Job Description Job Title: Food Service Technician and Cook Job Description This role supports a busy hospital food service operation by assembling patient meal trays with precision and delivering meal carts safely and on time to patient rooms. The Food Service Technician works in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, ensuring dietary accuracy, excellent customer service, and a professional presence while collaborating with a team to keep meal service running smoothly throughout the day. Responsibilities • Assemble patient meal trays accurately, ensuring each tray includes the correct food items according to individual diet orders and restrictions., • Deliver meal carts to patient rooms safely and efficiently, following established routes and hospital protocols., • Verify patient information and diet requirements before placing items on trays to support patient safety and special dietary needs., • Assist at various food service stations during peak times, including trayline, preparation, and service areas, depending on operational needs., • Maintain a high level of attention to detail to prevent errors in meal orders, portioning, and tray setup., • Provide courteous and professional customer service to patients, visitors, and staff, responding politely to questions and requests., • Support a high-volume operation that serves over 700 guests per day by working quickly and efficiently without compromising quality., • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to ensure timely meal delivery and smooth coordination across shifts., • Follow all hospital and food service safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards while working in food preparation and delivery areas., • Lift and carry items up to 50 pounds and push meal carts up to 100 pounds as part of daily tasks., • Work assigned shifts of 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., with the flexibility to be available for both as needed., • Participate in a rotating weekend schedule to support a 24/7 hospital operation. Essential Skills • At least 1.5+ years of experience in the food service industry, preferably in a fast-paced environment such as a busy restaurant., • A minimum of 1.5+ years of job tenure at previous employers, demonstrating reliability and commitment., • Proven ability to work in a high-volume setting serving hundreds of guests per day while maintaining quality and accuracy., • Strong customer service orientation, with the ability to interact professionally with patients, visitors, and hospital staff., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and push up to 100 pounds safely and repeatedly during the shift., • Willingness and ability to work both 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m. shifts, as needed., • Flexibility to work rotating weekends in a 24/7 hospital environment., • High level of attention to detail, particularly in following diet orders and assembling accurate meal trays., • Professional demeanor appropriate for a hospital setting, including respectful communication and adherence to standards., • Team-oriented mindset with a willingness to help wherever needed in the department. You will work in food service areas, trayline stations, and patient care floors, frequently moving between the kitchen and patient rooms while pushing meal carts. The operation serves over 700 guests per day, so the pace is consistently busy and requires focus and efficiency. Shifts typically run from 6:00 a.m.–2:30 p.m. and 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m., and team members are expected to be available for both, including rotating weekends. The role involves regular lifting of up to 50 pounds and pushing up to 100 pounds, and you will follow hospital safety, sanitation, and professional conduct standards appropriate for a healthcare setting. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Round Rock, TX. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.50/hr.
