Job DescriptionDescription: Key Responsibilities • Lead and scale our engineering organization to a high-performing, distributed team capable of executing on an aggressive multi-platform roadmap while managing technical debt across multiple product lines and technology stacks, • Drive platform strategy spanning EHR/eMAR systems, workforce management, AI-driven care intelligence, and data infrastructure—architecting solutions that balance legacy solutions with modern platform evolution and strategic acquisitions integration, • Own the technical vision and execution of $1-2M+ multi-year modernization initiatives including database architecture evolution, infrastructure consolidation across AWS environments, authentication unification, and API-first architecture development, • Partner directly with the Chief Platform Officer, Product leadership, and executive team to translate business strategy into technical roadmaps, balancing feature delivery velocity against technical debt remediation and infrastructure investments, • Establish engineering excellence through mature SDLC practices including CI/CD automation, comprehensive test strategies, code review standards, and metrics-driven productivity frameworks that deliver predictable releases while maintaining system reliability, • Build and develop engineering leadership capability across distributed teams by recruiting senior talent, creating career progression frameworks, managing offshore partnerships, and fostering a collaborative culture focused on technical excellence and psychological safety, • Lead platform consolidation efforts following acquisitions by integrating heterogeneous technology stacks, unifying authentication and authorization systems, establishing shared services, and creating consistent UX/design systems across product lines, • Ensure SOC 2 Type II compliance, PHI/PII security controls, and healthcare data standards (HL7/FHIR) are embedded in engineering practices while managing incident response, third-party security assessments, and continuous compliance requirements, • Drive operational excellence by implementing engineering KPIs (velocity, quality, deployment frequency, SLA/SLO metrics), capacity planning frameworks, resource allocation strategies, and dependency management across competing priorities, • Champion technology evaluation and strategic decision-making including build-vs-buy analysis, technology stack evolution, infrastructure cost optimization, and emerging technology adoption that advances our platform capabilities, • Collaborate with Data Platform and AI/ML teams to support intelligent care initiatives by ensuring engineering practices accommodate real-time systems, high-concurrency architectures, data pipeline integration, and AI feature deployment, • 15+ years software engineering experience with 7+ years in VP or Senior Director of Engineering roles leading 20-50+ engineering professionals at SaaS companies, preferably in healthcare, regulated industries, or high-compliance environments, • Deep expertise in cloud-native architecture (AWS strongly preferred) including EC2, Lambda, Fargate, RDS, Aurora, S3, CloudFormation, with proven ability to design and operate scalable, secure, multi-tenant SaaS platforms serving thousands of customers, • Demonstrated success managing heterogeneous technology portfolios including frontend frameworks (React, Angular, TypeScript), backend systems (.NET/C#, Node.js, Python), databases (SQL Server, PostgreSQL/Aurora, Snowflake data warehouse), and microservices architectures, • Track record of successful platform consolidation through M&A integration, technical debt reduction initiatives, and infrastructure modernization while maintaining feature velocity and system reliability in production environments, • Experience scaling engineering organizations including building high-performing distributed teams, establishing clear reporting structures, talent acquisition in competitive markets, and managing offshore staff augmentation partnerships, • Proven ability to establish engineering culture and operational excellence through Agile/Scrum maturity, CI/CD automation, test-driven development, engineering metrics programs, and continuous process improvement initiatives, • Strong technical credibility with engineering teams including hands-on experience validating architectures, conducting technical trade-off analyses, leading code reviews, and providing technical mentorship to senior engineers and architects, • Healthcare or senior living industry experience strongly preferred with understanding of EHR systems, clinical workflows, regulatory compliance requirements (HIPAA, SOC 2), PHI/PII handling, and healthcare integration standards, • Strategic communication skills with ability to articulate technical vision to non-technical executives, develop compelling business cases for technical investments, manage stakeholder expectations, and navigate organizational change, • Experience with platform strategy including API-first design, authentication/authorization consolidation (OAuth, Auth0, AWS IAM, Cognito), data layer integration, shared service development, and cross-platform UX consistency, • Understanding of AI/ML platform operations, data pipeline architectures (Airflow, Fivetran, dbt), message queue systems (SQS, SNS, EventBridge), and real-time processing requirements that support intelligent care applications, • Demonstrated change management capabilities including leading through acquisitions, managing retention of acquired teams, conflict resolution, performance management, and fostering collaboration across previously independent engineering organizations, • Bias toward action balanced with thoughtful decision-making, comfort with ambiguity and rapid evolution, and proven ability to influence without authority across cross-functional leadership teams, • Beneficial technical exposure to Elixir/Phoenix framework, HL7/FHIR integration standards, healthcare data modeling, or willingness to develop understanding of specialized technologies within our platform ecosystem
