EDC is looking for an Instructional Leader to join our team that has a positive demeanor, professional, innovative, organized, and is well versed in Special Education, IEPs, and more. You must have the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, students, Local Education Agencies, and the general public. Work involves setting policies and goals under the direction of the Executive Director and providing departmental supervision. This position also requires managing an educational team and communicating effectively to achieve team goals. You are responsible for maintaining an effective educational program consistent with state and federal guidelines and the philosophy, policies and goals of the Educational Development Center. Qualification Requirements The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. • Professional Teaching License - VDOE, • minimum of 3 years special education teaching experience, • Essential Functions:, • Observes classrooms and performs walk throughs; performs pre- and post-conference observations., • Facilitates and attends various meetings (IEP Meetings, ICC Meetings, Strategic Intervention Plan Meetings, Student Staffing’s, Eligibility Meetings, Parental conferences, etc.), • Conducts Student referral interviews to assist in enrollment., • Handles academic, behavioral, and attendance/truancy, • Coordination with Local Education Agencies., • Assigns, directs, trains and reviews staff work; evaluates staff performance; develops staff schedules; coaches and/or counsel staff; provides recommendations regarding hiring and participates in interviews of potential staff., • Manages communication, requests, and conferencing with Local Education Agencies daily., • Supervises special education within building including curriculum development schedules, differentiated lesson plans, gradebooks, reporting, accommodations, and IEPs., • Responsible for managing (requesting, scheduling, editing, and revising) documentation required for IEPs (i.e. PLOPs, Transition Plans, Counseling Reports, Observations, Etc.)., • Manages the Online Learning System, Jupiter Ed., which includes grade-books, reports, behavioral logs, demographic information, and student class schedules., • Responsible for generating student schedules under the guidelines of each serving locality and the Virginia Department of Education., • Responsible for reporting, maintenance, and filing of student progress monitoring measures., • Assist in maintaining adherance to all VDOE requirements., • Must be familiar with online communication systems such as google meet, Microsoft teams, and Zoom. In addition, must be familiar with google docs, and all Microsoft office applications., • Manages all staff developments and schedule. Is responsible to provide staff development trainings, and orientation., • Responds to the request of each locality served., • Collaborates with external service providers to support each student and their corresponding team., • Thorough knowledge of the practices, methods and techniques used in the administration and supervision of all facets of a school and well versed in a number of educational modalities and related services., • Thorough knowledge of the Department of Education and locality policies, rules and procedures, • Ability to communicate complex ideas effectively in both oral and written formats., • Ability to motivate others to reach their fullest potential., • Ability to operate standard school records software., • Ability to learn specialized equipment and software based on EDC’s needs., • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates, parents, students, Local Education Agencies, and the general public.
