Job Description Job Title: CNC Machinist Job Description The CNC Machinist sets up and operates CNC machines to produce precision components for oil and gas, aerospace, and general industrial manufacturing applications, including devices used to perforate oil and gas wells in preparation for production. This role combines hands-on machining, equipment setup, and basic to advanced programming to ensure high-quality, accurate parts are delivered consistently. Responsibilities • Set up CNC mills and CNC lathes according to job specifications, including tooling, fixtures, and program selection., • Operate CNC machines to manufacture precision components for oil and gas, aerospace, and general industrial manufacturing applications., • Produce parts for devices used to perforate oil and gas wells, ensuring dimensional accuracy and quality standards., • Interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, and work instructions to determine machining requirements., • Perform CNC machine setups, including loading tools, setting offsets, and verifying correct programs., • Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to inspect parts and verify tolerances., • Monitor machine operations and make adjustments to feeds, speeds, and tool paths to optimize performance and part quality., • Utilize Fanuc and Haas controls to run and, where applicable, edit CNC programs using G-code., • Perform basic to advanced CNC programming and program edits to support efficient production and accommodate engineering changes., • Maintain a clean and organized work area, following safety procedures and best practices at all times., • Collaborate with team members to resolve machining issues and improve processes., • Perform routine machine checks and report any equipment issues to appropriate personnel. Essential Skills • 1–2 years of CNC machinist experience, completion of education or training, or CNC schooling., • Hands-on experience setting up and operating CNC mills and CNC lathes., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings., • Proficiency using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring tools., • Experience working with Fanuc and Haas CNC controls., • Knowledge of CNC programming and G-code for mills and lathes., • Strong understanding of machining processes, including turning and milling., • Ability to perform accurate machine setups and make necessary adjustments during production., • Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality, precision components., • Ability to work extended hours, including overtime, as production needs require. Additional Skills & Qualifications • 3–5 years of CNC machining experience is highly preferred., • 5+ years of CNC machining experience with strong programming skills is a plus., • Experience machining parts for oil and gas, aerospace, or industrial manufacturing environments., • Familiarity with both lathe and mill operations in a production setting., • Comfort working with G-code to create, modify, and troubleshoot CNC programs., • Formal CNC education or technical training in machining or manufacturing technology., • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot machining and dimensional issues., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, production-oriented environment. Work Environment This role is based in a fully climate-controlled manufacturing facility focused on CNC machining for oil and gas, aerospace, and general industrial applications. The team operates Monday through Saturday with two primary shifts: first shift from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and second shift from 4:30 p.m. to 1:00 a.m. Overtime is available by coming in early, staying late, and working Saturdays, with current workloads averaging around 55 hours per week.
