Job DescriptionJob Overview We are seeking a dependable and skilled Cook to join our hospital food services team. This role is responsible for preparing, cooking, and presenting high-quality hot and cold food items across multiple meal periods, including breakfast, lunch, dinner, and special or catered events. You will work in both patient-focused and retail-style cafeteria areas, ensuring meals are nutritious, appealing, and served with friendly, professional service to patients, visitors, and staff. Key Responsibilities • Prepare, cook, and portion a variety of hot and cold food items for daily meal service and special or catered events, • Perform large-batch cooking for patient meal service, following standardized recipes and portion guidelines, • Operate and monitor kitchen equipment such as grills and pizza ovens safely and efficiently, • Set up, stock, and maintain cooking and service stations to ensure timely food availability, • Follow all food safety, sanitation, and hygiene standards during food handling, preparation, and storage, • Assist with basic food prep tasks, including chopping, measuring, and assembling ingredients, • Collaborate with kitchen team members to ensure accurate and timely meal service, • Provide courteous, respectful customer service to patients, visitors, and staff in cafeteria and retail areas, • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, including equipment and prep areas, • Support special events and catering needs as assignedEssential Skills & Experience, • 1–2 years of cooking experience (grill cook, fry cook, line cook, or patient cook), • Experience preparing food in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, • Ability to operate grills, pizza ovens, and other commercial kitchen equipment, • Strong customer service skills and a professional demeanor, • Ability to follow recipes, portion controls, and food safety procedures accurately, • Basic understanding of food handling, sanitation, and hygiene standards, • Availability to work scheduled shifts, including midday and evening hoursAdditional Skills & Qualifications, • Previous experience in a hospital, healthcare, or cafeteria setting preferred, • Experience with large-batch or institutional cooking, • Strong communication and teamwork skills, • Hospital cafeteria setting with patient-focused and retail-style food service areas, • Work around commercial kitchen equipment, including grills, pizza ovens, and large-batch cooking appliances, • Fast-paced, team-oriented environment with high standards for cleanliness and professionalism, • Scheduled shifts supporting daily meal periods, which may include:, • Midday to evening shifts (e.g., 11:00 a.m.–7:30 p.m.) Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
