Job Description Overview Employed by PAGNY for The Division of Correctional Health Services (CHS) of New York City Health + Hospitals (H+H) is responsible for the delivery of medical care, mental health care, and discharge planning in the jail system. Approximately 25% of new admissions per year to the NYC jail system will receive care on the mental health service. This service strives to provide safe, holistic and evidence-based therapeutic interventions for the diverse range of mental health issues that face the population, from serious mental illness to the natural struggles that accompany incarceration. The service provides some of the most comprehensive and unique treatment modalities in the country, including specialty housing units for individuals with serious mental illness, a 24-hour on-call psychiatric service, robust creative arts programming, a strong DBT training program, clinics in each of the facilities, substance use treatment, integrated re- entry services, and relationships with multiple training institutions throughout the city. Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Clinical Supervisor and the Mental Health Unit Chief on Rikers Island, the MHC will provide quality mental health care to incarcerated individuals who need and/or want services. Job Summary: Capital Preparatory Schools is looking for a highly motivated and experienced Athletic Coach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing coaching and guidance to scholar-athletes in a specific sport and helping them to develop their skills and achieve their potential. This is a part-time position that will require availability during afternoon and evening hours and on weekends. Key Responsibilities: * Follows the administrative procedures established by Capital Preparatory Schools as published in the Athletics Policies and Procedures Manual and all policies and procedures applicable to CPS athletics. * Develops and implements practice plans for scholar-athletes in a specific sport to ensure conditioning and training so that scholar-athletes are physically prepared for competition; * Provides individualized coaching and instruction to improve technique, physical fitness, and overall performance to maximize performance; * Communicate effectively with scholar-athletes, parents, and other coaches regarding team expectations, schedules, and progress; * Schedules regular practices and attend and supervise all team practices, games, and events, both home and away; * Promotes good sportsmanship, teamwork, and positive attitudes among scholar-athletes; * Maintains equipment, uniforms, accurate records, and statistics for team performance, as required by the CPS network; * Enters grades for all scholar-athletes; * Ensures compliance with all rules and regulations of the league and the end of season checklist. * Willingness to fundraise; * Enforces team travel standards for behavior and appropriate dress. * Oversees training and care of scholar-athletes * For Head Coach, selects, supervises, and provides guidance to assistant coaches while monitoring and ensuring their professional development. * For Head Coach, conducts a performance evaluation for full-time and/or part-time assistant coach (es). * Performs any and all duties as may be assigned by Administration. Qualifications: * Bachelor’s degree in physical education, sports science, or related field preferred; high school diploma required. * Active certification to coach in the State of NY. * Experience coaching at the high school level, with a focus on skill development and player improvement * Strong knowledge of the sport, including current strategies, techniques, and trends. * Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire scholar-athletes. * Ability to work collaboratively with other coaches and staff members. * Valid CPR/First Aid, concussions, Certification in CPR and first aid * Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation; able to obtain passenger endorsement on license and an excellent driving record. * The position requires weekends, afternoon/evenings, and travel. Under the supervision of the Residential Hall Assistant Director (RHD), Senior PCs provide supervision over program counselors, as well as advisement and engagement opportunities for students residing on campus for the duration of precollege. This is a live-in position, working up to 40 hours per week with housing provided. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Senior Program Counselors are primarily responsible for building and maintaining a strong, safe, and inclusive residential life community. Senior PCs set up all residential spaces prior to student arrival and hold floor meetings with their respective team of program counselors to disseminate important information to their community. Senior PCs complete an evening room-check to ensure that all students are accounted for and document student incidents through Student Management Software (SMS). When programming happens off-campus, Senior PCs may escort students to and from the event.
