    School Professionals is recruiting for substitute teachers to work in Charter and Private Schools for this school year. We offer opportunities for both short- and long-term assignments. This offers flexibility to create your own schedule. We are looking for both new and experienced teachers. Substitute Teachers are responsible for teaching age-appropriate lessons, overall classroom management and supervision, and the academic and social-emotional growth of students. While some assignments/classrooms may include an Assistant Teacher or Co-Teacher model, a Teacher role always carries the primary responsibility for the students, whether alone or with another educator. Requirements: • 3+ months experience working with students in a traditional classroom or analogous setting. This can include substitute teaching, student teaching, after school counselor, coach, tutor, camp counselor, religious school instructor, higher education professor, etc., • *Bachelor's degree or higher – New York Employees., • Be flexible to cover a variety of grades and subjects based on school needs which are subject to change at any time., • Excellent classroom management skills and ability to keep students engaged, focused, and motivated. Ability to circulate classrooms or other spaces to supervise and assist students as necessary. Manage student behavior in a positive manner and be able to de-escalate situations., • Excellent communication skills. Be patient and exercise sound judgment., • Lesson planning, taking and reporting student attendance, grading/scoring, light administrative duties, organizing the classroom, recess, lunch duty, attending field trips, some lifting duties as needed., • Attend meetings such as professional development, parent teacher conferences, etc. if requested/approved by school/program and School Professionals. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: • Supports the implementation of the agency’s school readiness goals and CLASS., • Ensures proper care and supervision of children at all times, the practice of head counts,classroom arrangement, general safety rules,monitoring equipment and working knowledge of wclassroom management., • Assists Teacher with teaching responsibilities and other classroom responsibilities, as assigned, • Ensures child-adult ratio is met at all times, • Prepares snacks and meals for children, as needed., • Cleans and sanitizes all areas of the classroom, including food preparation and eating areas, • Helps children practice good hygiene, including personal cleanliness and diapering, as needed, • Provides input in planning lessons and activities for children, • Assists in gathering classroom observations and other documentation for developmental assessments of children., • Assist with child observation, individualization, lesson plans, attendance, lunch count, parent participation, in-kind contributions, and others as directed, using proper spelling and accurate calculations., • Assists in organizing and maintaining instructional and classroom supplies, • Sets up classrooms for various purposes., • Maintains an organized and developmentally appropriate classroom environment, • Collects documents from parents during drop-off/pick-up time, • Assist parents to organize and implement parent activities; encourage, facilitate, and support parental involvement in all aspects of the Head Start Program., • Provides appropriate customer service to parents, children, and community representatives/members,, • Ability to attend in-service trainings, home visits, parent conferences, etc., • Must have exceptional organizational and time management skills, • Implements agency policies and procedures, • Cooperates with Site Director/CDS and other Service Area Coordinators in planning, supervision and implementation of overall program., • Substitute as needed and when appropriate as instructed by Site Director., • Other duties as assigned within the scope of the position to maintain a quality program Professional and Ethical Standards, • Maintain confidentiality in accordance with Agency policy and legal requirements., • Be honest, reliable and dependable., • Respect and maintain rights and privacy of all staff, parents, and children., • Attend mandated trainings and meetings, and seek out staff development opportunities., • Work as a team member with all staff and maintain a positive work ethic., • Act conscientiously in performing routine duties Qualifications/Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: • Ability to effectively communicate with community members and groups, managers, regulatory agencies, and families both individually and in group settings., • Ability to work as a positive team member., • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations, • Knowledge of various software programs such as MS Word, Excel, Power-Point, Publisher and ChildPlus. Education/Certifications: BA/BS/AAS/CDA preferred. Strong written and oral communication skills. Displays effective time management and multi-tasking skills. About the Role We are seeking a Driver with a clean driving record and a strong commitment to supporting older adults with their transportation needs. The Driver will safely transport participants to and from center-based programs, trips, and special events, while ensuring their comfort and well-being. Responsibilities Safely transport Older Adult Services participants to designated destinations. Drive participants to trips and special events as needed. Maintain accurate daily transportation route sheets. Ensure participant safety at all times, including: Assisting participants in and out of vehicles Enforcing seatbelt use Securing wheelchairs properly Collect and record transportation contributions when applicable. Assist with maintaining and submitting transportation data. Complete required reports (e.g., incident reports) and submit to appropriate departments. Maintain vehicle cleanliness and complete daily G.O.A.L. sheets; coordinate routine maintenance with the Transportation Coordinator. Serve as a substitute for other QCH drivers when needed. Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Transportation Coordinator. Qualifications Valid NY State Driver’s License with an excellent driving record (must be maintained). Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with older adults respectfully and patiently. Ability to complete written reports and maintain accurate records. Self-motivated and resourceful; able to work independently and as part of a team. Ability to maintain confidentiality and use discretion appropriately.
