Job Summary Job Title: Maintenance Manager Location: Duval County Public Schools Direct Reports: 4 Maintenance Associates Scope: Support of ~147 school locations across the district Job Summary The Maintenance Manager oversees day‑to‑day facilities maintenance operations across Duval County Public Schools. This role provides leadership to a team of four associates and works hands‑on to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operation of building systems, including heating, cooling, refrigeration, and general repairs. The position plays a key role in coordinating work, resolving maintenance issues, and delivering high‑quality support to school sites throughout the district. Essential Duties and Responsibilities • Establishes and reviews work standards and procedures for maintenance staff in alignment with facility policies and operational practices., • Plans and coordinates work schedules, assignments, and staffing levels to ensure appropriate operational coverage., • Participates in interviewing, selection, onboarding, coaching, and performance feedback processes for maintenance personnel., • Conducts routine inspections and evaluations of facility conditions and provides recommendations for corrective actions., • Holds regular staff meetings and collaborates with other departments to coordinate maintenance activities., • Schedules and coordinates major maintenance projects, ensuring required resources, materials, and personnel are in place., • Updates work orders, documents findings, and records completed tasks in the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), including via mobile device., • Supports the planning of maintenance activities by identifying labor needs, materials, timelines, and task dependencies., • Performs maintenance tasks, repairs, adjustments, and inspections on mechanical, plumbing, and general building systems as needed., • Troubleshoots equipment issues, identifies root causes, and recommends appropriate corrective actions., • Communicates significant issues to appropriate leadership and assists in determining corrective strategies., • Oversees contractor work, verifies completion, and identifies necessary follow‑up actions., • Assists with facility modifications, small projects, and improvements., • Responds to facility maintenance needs and assists in restoring normal operations., • Completes preventive maintenance activities, inspections, rounds, and system checks., • Identifies opportunities to improve maintenance procedures, asset reliability, and system performance., • Ensures mechanical rooms, shops, and maintenance work areas are clean, organized, and compliant with safety expectations., • Experience in maintenance, facilities operations, or a related skilled trade within an institutional, industrial, or commercial setting., • Knowledge of mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and general building systems., • Ability to read and interpret diagrams, technical manuals, equipment specifications, and related documentation., • Proficiency with tools and equipment commonly used in facility maintenance., • Strong problem‑solving and troubleshooting abilities., • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment., • Relevant experience in maintenance, facilities operations, or a related field.
