The President/CEO is the chief executive officer of the organization and the primary liaison to the Board of Directors. Accountable to the Board of Directors and the Mission, the CEO aligns PPBH financial, clinical, and operational resources and talent to meet its present and future goals. The CEO cultivates strategic external partnerships to advance integrated services, evidence-based solutions, and progressive public policies to ensure the health of its patients and the community. The CEO embraces and advances a culture of positivity, spirit of teamwork, compassion, and staff empowerment. In particular, the CEO supports a strong Executive Team (4 direct reports) to achieve results. The CEO must have incisive analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex issues facing both patients and staff. As the face of PPBH, the CEO demonstrates humility, perseverance, clear communication, transparency, and a deep understanding of the public health issues facing our patients, our community, and our staff. RESPONSIBILITIES Essential Functions • Ensure the Board receives timely, transparent reporting on organizational performance, financial health, clinical quality, and risk management activities., • Lead strategic planning efforts with the Board and Executive Team; establish measurable goals and monitor progress through data-driven performance metrics., • Monitor and respond to local, state, and federal policy, legislative, and funding developments impacting behavioral healthcare., • Support Board recruitment, onboarding, and development to ensure strong governance and diverse expertise., • Ensure compliance with governance requirements, accreditation standards, and Board responsibilities., • Provide oversight of Northeast Ohio Psychiatric Institute (NEOPI). Leadership, Vision, and Strategy • Partner with the Board and Executive Team to develop annual budgets and operating plans aligned with strategic priorities., • Foster a high-performing leadership team through coaching, collaboration, accountability, and professional development., • Establish and evaluate annual goals and performance expectations for Executive Team members., • Champion a recovery-oriented, trauma-informed culture across the organization., • Cultivate a positive, inclusive, and mission-driven workplace culture. Visibility, Communications, and Advocacy • Serve as the organization's primary spokesperson, enhancing visibility through effective communication and community engagement., • Build strategic relationships with community leaders, policymakers, donors, and key stakeholders., • Advocate for behavioral health initiatives and public policy priorities at the local, regional, and state levels., • Strengthen partnerships with health systems, government agencies, educational institutions, and community organizations., • Maintain a strong, transparent relationship with the Summit County ADM Board. General Management, Finance, and Administration • Ensure the long-term financial sustainability of the organization., • Oversee financial operations, including budgeting, audits, cost reporting, investments, and regulatory filings, in partnership with the CFO., • Foster an engaging workplace supported by competitive compensation, benefits, and employee development opportunities., • Maintain strong fiscal controls, accountability, and stewardship of public and private resources., • Negotiate, review, and approve organizational contracts and agreements. Fundraising and Development • Ensure a diversified and sustainable funding strategy across public, private, and philanthropic sources., • Provide leadership for fundraising initiatives, including donor cultivation, major gifts, grants, and capital campaigns., • Align marketing, communications, and branding strategies with fundraising objectives., • Expand revenue opportunities through grants, philanthropic partnerships, and third-party payer contracts. Clinical and Operational Excellence • Partner with the executive leadership team to ensure the safe, effective, and efficient delivery of high-quality behavioral health services., • Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, accreditation standards, and behavioral health regulations., • Promote data-driven decision-making and continuous quality improvement to enhance outcomes and program effectiveness., • Ensure compliance with labor laws, professional licensing requirements, and workforce regulations., • Stay current on emerging clinical trends, evidence-based practices, and innovations in behavioral healthcare. Risk Management • Provide leadership and oversight for enterprise-wide risk management, compliance, and regulatory accountability., • Participate in risk management activities, policy development, and staff education to strengthen organizational safeguards., • Model and reinforce a culture of safety, ethics, and compliance., • Maintain effective relationships with legal counsel and external advisors as needed. QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS • Bachelor’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, or a related field, with at least 7 to 10 years of progressive senior leadership in behavioral health facilities., • Brings hands-on experience managing multi-million-dollar budgets, overseeing complex operations, and leading organizational growth and change while ensuring alignment with evolving community needs., • Demonstrates strong knowledge of behavioral healthcare systems (Medicaid, Medicare, managed care, licensing, accreditation) and a solid grasp of state and federal policy and integrated care models., • Comfortable navigating regulatory environments, including Joint Commission, CARF, and all relevant compliance and risk management requirements., • Adept at nonprofit governance, supporting Boards of Directors, aligning governance and strategy, and fostering transparent committee communication., • Excels in fostering teamwork across senior leadership, building relationships with community stakeholders, referral partners, and public officials, and maintaining operational flexibility and adaptability., • Exhibits cultural competence and a visible community presence, regularly engaging with diverse communities and clients while embracing person-centered care., • Supports talent development, recruiting and mentoring staff, and cultivating an inclusive organizational culture., • Practices data-driven decision-making using KPIs and outcomes data to drive quality improvement and demonstrate impact for funders and regulators., • Brings financial and strategic acumen in behavioral health billing, budget management, and leading effective discussions around fiscal strategy and initiatives., • Confidently represents the organization in media and public forums, tailoring communication for a variety of audiences, and proactively advances the mission through advocacy, fundraising, donor relations, and assertive pursuit of grants and funding opportunities Preferred: • Master’s degree in business, Healthcare Administration, Social Work, Public Health, Psychology, or related field., • Independent licensure in Behavioral Health (Ohio) with the ability to supervise and bill for other clinicians.
