Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner - Duke Life Flight Duke Life Flight seeks to hire an Advanced Respiratory Care Practitioner who will embrace our mission of Advancing Health Together. Duke Life Flight is a CAMTS accredited critical care and Emergency Air and Ground transport agency in Durham, NC, providing services to North Carolina and its surrounding states. We operate two state-of-the-art rotor wing aircraft and a fleet of critical care, and advanced life support ambulances. We are one of few rotor-wing aeromedical Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) capable flight programs in North Carolina. Our respiratory care practitioners with our Life Flight team transport pediatric, and neonatal patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Apply ionizing radiation to the patient (inclusive of pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations) in accordance with the prescription and instructions of the Radiation Oncologist and under the general supervision of the Chief Therapist. *Deliver accurately the prescribed planned course of radiation therapy with minimal supervision. *Check prescription, diagnosis, chart and patient identification. *Explain procedure to patient, means of communication during treatment and procedure to follow if emergency arises during treatment. *Reinforce Radiation Oncologist's advice to patient regarding reactions to treatment and their care. *Prepare room and equipment for patient according to prescription regarding immobilization devices, field size, treatment distance, lead protection devices, etc. *Transfer patient safely to treatment couch, giving special care to catheters, intravenous drips, etc. *Check daily treatment time and delivers prescribed dose. *Maintain visual and audible communication with the patient during treatment. *Maintain patient markings. Coordinated by our communications center as well as DUHS Neonatology and Pediatric physician support, this team responds to ill and injured patients with state of the art equipment utilizing the safest and most appropriate mode of transport possible. The neonatal/pediatric team utilizes isolettes, nitric oxide, ECMO, Neo Mate, Pedi Mate, Baby Pod and high flow oxygen therapies, to name a few, during rotor wing operations. Rotor wing operations comprise of approximately 10% of this specialized teams transport volume. Ground Transport Although Duke Life Flight was founded as an air-only transport program, the teams ground assets are utilized more often and for all levels of care from ALS to critical care. Serving as "rolling intensive care units’ that can meet any patient’s transport needs 24 hours a day, seven days a week, each ambulance is staffed with team members that complement the patient's needs. • Critical care ambulances are split strategically between bases in Durham, Henderson, and Smithfield., • Ground units cover a 180 mile radius from their bases, and provide world-class care to parts of North Carolina, Virginia, and South Carolina.
