Job Description POSITION SUMMARY: Perform diversified duties with emphasis in Preventive Maintenance, electrical, mechanical, plumbing, painting, and other duties relating to general maintenance. Assists in the performance of duties necessary to keep the physical structure and associated equipment of the hospital in good repair. SHIFT DETAILS: • Consistently supports the hospital's Spirit of Serving Standards, in line with the Mission, Vision and values of St. Joseph Medical Center., • Follows the St. Joseph Medical Center Guidelines related to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), designed to prevent or detect unauthorized disclosure of Protected Health Information (PHI)., • Promotes a culture of safety for patients and Associates through proper identification, proper reporting, documentation and prevention of medical errors in a non-punitive environment., • Perform preventive maintenance throughout the Hospital to insure proper operation of heat, air conditioning, ventilation and medical support equipment (e.g., vacuum pumps, air compressors)., • Performs all assigned tasks in a professional manner to reflect the highest integrity of the Engineering Department., • Assists in maintaining and repairing HVAC controls and associated equipment to maximize efficiency levels in all environmentally controlled areas., • Performs urgent corrective, routine and requisitioned repairs of electrical, mechanical and plumbing systems as required., • Performs maintenance on equipment and systems as required., • As required, assists in maintaining electrical wiring and emergency generator systems. Inspects and tests equipment/systems., • Performs preventive maintenance duties to all physical structures of hospital and complies with all building safety codes. This is to include facility equipment and associated controls., • Assists in replacing, installing, repairing and testing electrical circuits, equipment, appliances and lighting systems as required., • Maintains routine records of all inspections, preventive maintenance and repairs performed on any equipment or system., • Performs manual duties as requested: i.e. moving supplies or furniture, replacing light bulbs, removing trash or scrap material., • Reads blueprints, interprets instructions and prepares specifications., • Ability to work well on his/her own and to inspect facilities and equipment., • A working knowledge of fire alarm and signal systems., • A through knowledge of how to use and maintain plant tools and equipment., • Knowledge and observance of safety precautions., • Participates in performance improvement and information management activities., • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor or Director of Engineering., • Supportive of the compliance program set forth by SJMC and demonstrated by:, • Upholds the Code of Ethics and Corporate Compliance., • Adheres to and helps to enforce all compliance policies relevant to his/her area., • Assures timely compliance education as requested by the Compliance Officer and/or through corporate initiatives., • High School Graduate or GED Equivalent, required., • Technical, clerical, critical thinking, and interpersonal skills., • Other certification requirements as defined by the certification policy., • Able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing., • Analytical skills are necessary to make calculations for the installation and repair of equipment., • The ability to concentrate and pay close attention to detail for up to fifty percent of work time when observing equipment disassembling devices, making repairs, and maintaining logs., • Bilingual or Multilingual., • Previous experience in a hospital setting., • Approximately three years, progressively more responsible related work experience is necessary to gain knowledge of equipment repair and be able to troubleshoot and diagnose a wide variety of mechanical equipment and machinery problems.
