Job DescriptionSalary: This is a Full-time 16-month role commencing May 2026 Come join us at Terrestrial Energy, a US developer of advanced, Generation IV nuclear reactors. We are growing our workforce to develop and deploy our Integral Molten Salt Reactor (IMSR) small modular nuclear plant to provide cost-competitive, clean firm heat and power to industry. The Company has recently completed a merger creating a publicly listed operating company (NASDAQ IMSR), to secure the capital resources for our next growth phase. We are seeking people who: • Have US market experience and perspectives bringing good judgement and innovative approaches to problem solving and business plan execution., • Have demonstrated exceptional performance in past engineering projects., • Offer exceptional leadership and team building capabilities., • Have a deep understanding of the requirements for advanced reactor development., • Can assist in the creation of the discipline and organized company structure, and contributed to a culture of excellence, necessary for the development and deployment of the Companys IMSR plant., • Can thrive in a fast growing and opportunity business environment, and are capable of flexibility and adaptability at a time of organizational change., • Have the specific skillset and experience for the following role: The Systems Engineering Intern, under the direction of the Systems Engineering Manager, supports the development, integration, and coordination of Terrestrial Energys IMSR technology. This role is critical in assisting with systems-level definition, requirements management, interface coordination, and documentation across multidisciplinary engineering teams. The successful candidate will gain hands-on experience applying systems engineering principles in a highly regulated advanced nuclear technology environment, while contributing meaningfully to the Reactor Pilot Program and associated development activities. Other Responsibilities Include: Systems Engineering • Support development, maintenance, and organization of system requirements for IMSR systems and subsystems, • Assist with requirements decomposition, allocation, and traceability across system, subsystem, and component levels, • Help maintain system descriptions, functional breakdowns, and system architecture documentation, • Support identification, documentation, and tracking of system assumptions, constraints, and design decisions, • Support identification and documentation of interfaces between engineering disciplines (mechanical, electrical, I&C, safety, licensing), • Assist in maintaining Interface Control Documents (ICDs) and interface registers, • Participate in cross-functional technical meetings and support follow-up on actions and interface issues, • Assist in developing and maintaining requirements verification matrices, • Support definition of verification methods (analysis, inspection, test, demonstration) for system requirements, • Help organize verification evidence and documentation to support future testing and validation activities, • Prepare and update technical documentation including system summaries, requirement listings, and decision logs, • Assist in preparing figures, block diagrams, and presentation material for internal design reviews, • Maintain organized records within document control and configuration management systems, • Work closely with Systems Engineering, Design Engineering, Safety, Licensing, and Project Management teams, • Participate in design reviews and technical discussions to gain exposure to integrated reactor development, • Interface with engineers across multiple disciplines to support coordinated system development, • Contribute to continuous improvement of systems engineering tools and practices Core Competencies: • Written and verbal communication, • Project and task coordination, • Technical documentation practices, • Quality and compliance awareness, • Digital engineering tools, • Team collaboration and support, • Analytical and problem-solving skills, • Data-driven decision support, • Initiative and willingness to learn, • Planning and organizational skills, • Adaptability to change Requirements: Education • Academic or co-op experience in engineering design, analysis, or technical documentation, • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, • Understanding of systems thinking and interdisciplinary engineering principles, • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), • Ability to read and understand technical documentation and engineering drawings, • Strong attention to detail and organization, • Clear technical writing and documentation skills, • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines, • Willingness to learn and take initiative, • Effective communication skills within a technical team environment Assets: • Coursework or experience in systems engineering, requirements management, or project engineering, • Familiarity with the V-model of systems engineering, • Exposure to regulated industries (nuclear, aerospace, energy, medical, etc.), • Familiarity with tools such as DOORS, Jama, Polarion, SysML, or similar (academic exposure acceptable), • Interest in advanced reactor technologies or clean energy systems Benefits: • Mentoring/Coaching with Senior Employees/Leaders, • Collaborative and supportive work environment, • Opportunities to network across departments, • Hands-on experience with real projects Please submit a Resume, Cover Letter, and Transcripts (Unofficial copies are acceptable at this stage.)
