Job DescriptionAbout the Position: Seeking a Civil Designer with about five years of experience delivering site development projects—big-box retail (e.g., Walmart), banks, schools, and similar commercial/education sites. You’ll produce high-quality civil plan sets in AutoCAD Civil 3D, collaborate closely with project engineers/managers, and keep multiple projects moving on schedule. Key Responsibilities: • Prepare complete civil site plan sets: site layout, grading, drainage, paving/striping/signage, water/sewer/storm utilities, erosion & sediment control, and construction details., • Build and maintain Civil 3D models (surfaces, feature lines, corridors, and pipe networks); perform earthwork quantities and basic takeoffs., • Support drainage design (inlet/sag checks, pipe sizing, simple detention layouts) and assemble calculations for submittals., • Interpret survey/base maps, plats, deeds, and geotechnical reports; incorporate redlines and jurisdictional standards., • Prepare permit and construction submittals, respond to review comments, and coordinate across disciplines (architects, MEP, survey, landscape)., • Ensure drawings meet QA/QC, CAD standards, ADA accessibility, fire lane/parking codes, and client/jurisdiction requirements., • Provide occasional field/as-built support and respond to RFIs during construction. Required Qualifications: • 5 years of civil/site design experience on commercial/education projects (retail centers, bank branches, K-12/higher-ed campuses, etc.)., • Strong proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D (surfaces, grading tools/feature lines, corridors, pipe networks, sheets/Xrefs)., • Working knowledge of site drainage and utility design, plan set organization, and permitting processes., • Ability to read and apply municipal standards, ADA requirements, and typical site codes., • Team-oriented communicator who manages deadlines across multiple concurrent projects., • A.S./B.S. in Civil Engineering or Drafting/Design Technology (or equivalent experience).
