Job Description Job Title: Quality Control Technician Job Description The Quality Control Technician ensures that food production processes and finished products consistently meet quality, safety, and regulatory standards. This role performs routine inspections and testing, accurately records scientific data, and collaborates closely with production, warehouse, and food safety teams to maintain compliance with cGMP, HACCP, SOPs, and SSOPs. The technician works in a fast-paced production environment and takes a proactive, self-directed approach to identifying and resolving quality issues. Responsibilities • Actively support employees and customers in a positive, respectful manner., • Work harmoniously with others to complete tasks and meet production goals., • Conduct and record Pre-Op and Post-Op inspections of equipment and facility., • Perform Brix and pH tests on products and accurately record results., • Inform the supervisor immediately when product is out of specification., • Visually inspect finished products for quality and compliance., • Calibrate and clean pH meters as needed to ensure accurate readings., • Keep buffers and water fresh and changed out as required., • Identify and properly store product retains for all products made during the shift., • Verify traceability information, including lot and batch codes on packaging., • Verify and record fill weights to ensure they meet specifications., • Review traceability documents during production hours for completeness and accuracy., • Place out-of-specification product on Quality Hold according to procedures., • Record all pertinent information related to quality checks and production events., • Document any outstanding or abnormal events on Incident Report forms., • Observe production and warehouse crews for GMP and SOP compliance and address issues accordingly., • Ensure allergen SOPs are followed and documented., • Check pouch and bottle seals, weights, lot codes, and legibility of codes and record results., • Inspect and document sanitation inspections of totes prior to filling., • Conduct ATP swabbing to validate sanitation effectiveness., • Collate production records for next-day HACCP review by the Food Safety Manager., • Communicate effectively with the Operations Manager, Shift Supervisor, and Food Safety Manager regarding quality and production issues., • Use sound discretion and problem-solving skills to address quality concerns., • Act in a self-directed manner by taking initiative before being directed by others or forced by events., • Proactively seize opportunities and take steps to avoid potential problems., • Demonstrate willingness to learn new tasks and adapt to changing production needs. Essential Skills • At least 1 year of experience in a warehouse or general labor position., • Ability to speak, read, and write the English language; bilingual ability is a plus., • Ability to print neatly and legibly for accurate documentation., • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in recording data., • Ability to follow Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HACCP), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and Standard Sanitary Operating Procedures (SSOPs)., • Ability to operate laboratory equipment and accurately record scientific data., • Experience standardizing, calibrating, and using scientific equipment such as pH meters, refractometers, ATP testing units and ATP swabs, torque meters, and weigh scales., • Basic math comprehension and skills for measurements and calculations., • Ability to work in a busy, wet production environment., • Ability to follow supervisor directions consistently and accurately., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making ability., • Demonstrated discretion, sound judgment, and problem-solving ability., • Capability to perform production-related tasks such as packing, loading, packaging, and general production work in a food environment. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience in production, packing, warehouse, general labor, or general production roles., • Experience in food production or working with fruit fillings is beneficial., • Comfort working as a packer or production worker in a fast-paced environment., • Willingness to learn new tasks and expand technical skills., • Ability to maintain composure and accuracy in a warm, high-activity setting., • Strong teamwork mindset with a positive and respectful approach to colleagues.
