Job DescriptionJob Title: Sit-Down Forklift Operator Job Description The Sit-Down Forklift Operator safely loads and unloads palletized materials from truck trailers and supports efficient shipping and receiving operations in a fast-paced warehouse environment. This role involves operating a sit-down forklift inside trailers, maintaining load stability, handling high-volume pallet movements, and performing general warehouse tasks while consistently following safety and operational guidelines. Responsibilities • Operate a sit-down forklift to load and unload pallets from inbound and outbound truck trailers., • Drive the forklift safely into trailers, ensuring proper dock alignment and trailer stability at all times., • Move, stage, and stack palletized materials in designated warehouse locations to support smooth material flow., • Verify incoming and outgoing shipments against bills of lading and packing lists, and promptly report any discrepancies., • Perform daily forklift inspections and immediately report any maintenance needs or safety concerns., • Follow all OSHA and company safety guidelines, including safe driving practices and proper material handling procedures., • Maintain clean, organized, and hazard-free work areas throughout the warehouse and dock., • Operate a machine using a human interface to input dimensions from work orders accurately., • Assist with general warehouse duties such as wrapping pallets, staging materials, and performing light manual work as needed., • Handle heavy, oversized, or high-volume palletized loads safely and efficiently., • Support inventory control and receiving activities by applying strong attention to detail., • Maintain reliable attendance and punctuality to support consistent warehouse operations.Essential Skills, • Proven experience operating a sit-down forklift, including daily use in previous roles., • Demonstrated experience driving into truck trailers to safely load and unload pallets., • Ability to safely handle heavy, oversized, or high-volume palletized loads., • Knowledge of warehouse safety practices and dock operations., • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on feet for extended periods., • Basic communication skills and the ability to understand and follow instructions accurately., • Strong attention to detail, particularly in receiving or inventory-related positions., • Reliable attendance, punctuality, and the ability to consistently work a 40-hour week with no overtime., • Ability to work a Monday–Friday schedule from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Forklift certification or the ability to obtain certification., • Previous shipping and receiving experience., • Experience in high-volume distribution or manufacturing environments., • Experience in roles requiring careful verification of documentation, such as inventory control or receiving.Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is based in an open bay warehouse environment with active dock operations and frequent forklift and trailer activity. You will work a first-shift schedule, Monday through Friday from 6:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., with a standard 40-hour workweek and no overtime. The work involves standing and walking for extended periods, operating a sit-down forklift, and handling palletized loads in and out of truck trailers. The environment is fast-paced and safety-focused, with daily equipment inspections and adherence to OSHA and company guidelines. Dress is typical for a warehouse setting, emphasizing safety and practicality suitable for operating material handling equipment and working around active loading docks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Hialeah, FL. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $20.00/hr.
