Job Description Data Analyst Position: Data Analyst - Food Processing & Supply Chain Operations Location: 18531 S. Broadwick St. Rancho Dominguez, CA 90220 Reports To: Director, Continuous Improvement Programs Role: On-Site, M-F, Rancho Dominguez, CA Plant FLSA: Exempt, Salaried, FT Wage Range: $95,000 to $105,000 yr (DOE) Position Overview: Santa Monica Seafood is seeking a Data Analyst with strong analytical and technical expertise to support data-driven decision-making across all functions of our food processing operations. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with Aspen/Canopy ERP, Power BI, Advanced Excel, and a working knowledge of SQL, coupled with a solid understanding of how the departments within a business function from procurement to production to logistics, impact the supply chain. This role requires a creative, self-driven professional who can interpret complex datasets, develop actionable insights for end users, and partner with leadership to improve visibility, accuracy, and performance across the organization. Experience in managing or coordinating projects is beneficial but secondary to the core analytical responsibilities. Key Responsibilities (other duties/responsibilities may be assigned): Data Analytics & Reporting • Extract, interpret, and validate data from company ERP systems and other operating systems to identify cost, yield, and operational efficiency trends., • Develop and maintain interactive dashboards and visual reports in Power BI and Excel to support daily operations and strategic decision-making., • Automate recurring reports to improve accuracy and reduce manual processes., • Monitor key metrics such as product inventory levels, aging inventory, waste and inbound/outbound logistics performance., • Use data storytelling to translate complex findings into clear, actionable insights for non-technical stakeholders, • Be able to identify, validate and correlate data that is extracted from company systems, financial documents and similar datasets to enable members of the company executive team to optimize company operations, improve inter & intra-departmental performances, and secure cost savings to build the financial health of SMS. Operational Insight & Cross-Functional Support • Partner with Operations, Procurement, QA, Logistics, Finance and other departments to understand data needs and ensure consistency across systems., • Help develop standard data definitions and reporting logic to align metrics across all divisions., • Support root-cause analysis of cost variances, production inefficiencies, and inventory discrepancies., • Surface opportunities to improve data capture and quality at every point in the supply chain., • Contribute to developing and maintaining KPI scorecards for executive visibility. Light Project Management Support • Assist in planning and tracking analytical or system improvement projects., • Coordinate timelines, data requests, and deliverables with cross-functional teams., • Support implementation of process improvements identified through data analysis., • Plan, organize, execute, and communicate workstreams to convert ideas into tangible deliverables across a wide range of company initiatives., • Other duties assigned by management Required Skills & Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in business analytics, Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering or related field (or equivalent experience)., • A minimum of 3–5 years of experience as a Data Analyst within a food processing, manufacturing, or distribution environment., • Strong proficiency ERP Systems (strong preferences in experience throughout Aspen/Canopy ERP, Power BI and advanced Excel (pivot tables, macros, power query, etc.))., • Light working knowledge of SQL for data extraction and validation., • Ability to structure large datasets into meaningful, actionable information., • Strong understanding of supply chain operations and interdepartmental data flow., • Exceptional attention to detail, organization and analytical reasoning., • Excellent communication and presentation skills for cross-departmental collaboration. Preferred Attributes: • Exposure to Continuous Improvement (CI) or Lean environments., • Familiarity with data governance or ERP enhancement projects., • Experience building KPI dashboards or financial/operational scorecards., • Natural curiosity, adaptability, and drive to find better ways to visualize and use data., • A broad understanding of overall company functions and operations/supply chain.
