Job Description Department: Branch Operations Reports To: Vice President of Operations Job Purpose: The Branch Operations Manager oversees all daily operations of the branch, ensuring a seamless customer experience, strong financial performance, and alignment with company values. This is a working manager role—hands-on leadership is expected. The Branch Operations must be ready to step in and support any department as needed, including inside sales, counter service, shipping/receiving, and warehouse operations. The role drives operational execution, service quality, and team performance to support Richards Supply’s long-term growth. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES • Lead daily operations for inside sales, counter staff, warehouse, shipping & receiving., • Set the tone as a working leader by stepping in to support sales, counter, warehouse, and shipping/receiving teams during peak periods, staffing gaps, or operational challenges, • Maintain accountability for store-level sales performance and branch profitability (P&L), • Collaborate with the VPs of Operations and Sales to implement strategic initiatives, • Hire, onboard, train, and develop team members across all functional areas, • Conduct performance reviews, coaching sessions, and disciplinary actions as needed, • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate purchasing decisions aligned with store needs, • Execute pricing adjustments in coordination with company guidelines and market dynamics, • Ensure the branch delivers timely, accurate, and professional service to all customers, • Champion safety protocols, clean facilities, and workplace organization Be On Time • Achieve an exceptional level of accurate and on-time order fulfillment rate, • Respond to customer issues and team escalations within 24 hours, • Review and manage to monthly branch reports and forecasts by designated deadlines, • Maintain inventory accuracy of 95% or above through cycle counts and process audits, • Sustain branch gross margin targets and reduce errors through process adherence, • Maintain and grow customer count, • Conduct quarterly one-on-one reviews with all direct reports, • Collaborate across departments to resolve inter-branch fulfillment or billing issues Each role at Richards Supply supports our company goal: earning a “seat at the table” in our customers’ production and planning meetings. This section explains how the Store Manager builds customer trust and long-term value. • Builds and maintains a high-performing team that consistently delivers reliable service, • Sets a standard of professionalism that strengthens customer trust and loyalty, • Oversees accurate, efficient operations that minimize delays and build confidence, • Makes informed, local decisions that reflect customer priorities and long-term goals, • Listens to customer feedback and drives branch improvements accordingly, • Demonstrates consistent follow-through, reinforcing that “you can count on us” Required: • 5+ years of leadership experience in industrial distribution, operations, or sales, • Proven track record in team supervision, customer service, and P&L management, • Proficiency with Profit21 (or similar ERP), CRM, and reporting tools, • Strong decision-making skills, with a sense of urgency and accountability, • Excellent interpersonal, coaching, and problem-solving abilities Preferred: • Experience with Proton CRM and Rubber Tree BI tools, • Prior experience in a family-owned or entrepreneurial business environment, • Working knowledge of MRO, safety, or industrial products Physical Requirements: • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate warehouse environments, • Standing, walking, and computer use for extended periods, • Occasional travel between branch locations or for company training events WORK ENVIRONMENT • Primarily branch-based with regular time spent on the sales floor, in the warehouse, and at the front counter, • Indoor climate-controlled office and warehouse areas; some exposure to seasonal temperatures, • Monday–Friday schedule with flexibility for early mornings or late closings as needed, • Occasional weekend or after-hours availability during inventory, emergencies, or peak periodsCompany DescriptionRichards Supply Co. is a family-owned business based in Waco, TX.
