What we are looking for The Staff Engineer or Geologist will perform professional engineering work supporting a broad range of projects that reflect Farallon’s core practices including: • Remedial investigations and feasibility studies;, • Field investigations including drilling, injection work, and pilot testing remediation system design and construction; and What’s in it for you? • The opportunity to advance your career at a quality-driven, employee-owned consulting firm., • Mentorship from seasoned environmental professionals., • Opportunities for career advancement., • Flexible work environment and excellent benefits.Requirements: What you will be doing at Farallon: • Perform field investigations and data collection as requested including observing drilling, injection work, system installations, mass excavation, and other types of similar work., • Ability to assist with preparation of summary memorandums, Remedial Investigation and Feasibility Study documents, Cleanup Action Plans, and other design documents with oversight from senior staff., • Experience reviewing and interpreting analytical and engineering design data., • Ability to perform basic engineering calculations, analyses, and costs under the direction of senior engineering staff., • Assists with preparation of other engineering related documents including cost estimates and proposals., • Ability to travel at least 20-percent of the time or as required., • Other Duties as assigned. What you will need to succeed • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in geology, environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field., • 1-2+ years of field experience preferred., • Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate or Geologist in Training (GIT) within California state or the ability to obtain within one year., • Basic competency with Microsoft Office 365 Suite., • Ability to work independently or as part of a team., • Ability to work schedules conducive to project-specific requirements that may extend beyond the typical work hours., • Knowledge of appropriate state regulations, including appropriate health and safety regulations, required to perform typical field and office tasks., • Ability to lift 50 pounds and perform field work and a wide range of physical activities, including sustained walking, standing, and reaching, in an outdoor environment., • Must be able to wear respiratory protection and pass baseline physical for job position., • Valid driver’s license and safe driving record. Ideally, you’ll also have • 40-Hour OSHA Health & Safety Training (HAZWOPER) (29 CFR 1910.120)., • Basic First Aid and Adult CPR training. Pay Range Our best estimate of the base salary range for this position, located in Irvine, California area is $85,000 – $95,000. Compensation offered will be based on a variety of individual factors, including education and experience, as well as internal equity. Farallon reviews and updates salary ranges annually, and employees are eligible for pay increases based on individual performance. The typical base salary range for this position is just one component of Farallon’s total compensation package for our employee-owners. Work Environment This job operates in a professional office environment and in the field. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. This role also uses equipment necessary to perform specialized field tasks.
