We are looking for a Food Safety & Quality Assurance (FSQA) Manager to join our team and help us continue to set the bar for excellence in food safety and compliance. Position Overview The FSQA Manager will oversee food safety and quality systems across our facilities, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements (BRC, FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF) while driving continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a proactive leader who can mentor teams, manage audits, and safeguard the integrity of our products from sourcing through distribution. Key Responsibilities • Develop, implement, and monitor food safety and quality programs., • Lead activities related to HACCP, audits, SOPs, GMPs, pest control, and customer complaint resolution., • Maintain and manage third-party audit documentation and regulatory compliance., • Monitor and enforce adherence to local, state, and federal food safety regulations., • Reassess Food Safety Plans following changes in process, technology, or regulations., • Lead and mentor FSQA team members, providing training and professional development., • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure compliance with Food Safety and Quality Plans., • Foster a culture of food safety, accountability, and continuous improvement across the organization. What We’re Looking For • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Food Science, or related field; OR 5+ years in Quality Assurance/Inventory Control with 2–5 years in a supervisory role., • Proven leadership experience in foodservice distribution, processing, or a related industry., • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, FSPCA, and warehouse management systems., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with experience in root cause analysis and corrective actions., • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate across teams and with external partners., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, adapt to change, and model professionalism. Position: FSQA Manager Department Operations Reports to: Director of Operations FLSA Status: Exempt Overview The FSQA Manager will be responsible for ensuring that our food distribution and meat processing facilities adhere to the highest standards of food safety and quality. This role involves developing, implementing, and monitoring food safety programs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and driving continuous improvement in our quality assurance processes. Key Responsibilities: Food Safety Management: • Monitors employee-training initiatives needed to meet standards of quality and process control., • Monitor and enforce compliance with food safety regulations and industry standards (e.g., BRC. FDA, USDA, HACCP, SQF)., • Lead activities related to quality assurance and food safety processes. This includes but is not limited to HAACP system, regulatory audits, Standard Operating Procedures, incoming raw materials inspections, Food Safety and GMP audits, Pest Control programs, customer complaints resolutions., • Maintain third-party audit documentation while coordinating with the Operations VP/Plant Manager during the completion of said audits., • Reassess Food Safety plan whenever there is a change to program, process, procedure, specification, equipment, industry philosophy, technology, etc., • Oversee monitoring, verification, and validation activities to ensure that all products leaving the facility meet the facility Food Safety and Quality Plans., • Stay current with food safety regulations and industry best practices., • Ensure both facilities follow local, state, and federal regulations., • Lead and mentor food safety and quality assurance professionals., • Oversee Quality and Food Safety Training and job aid development., • Action-Oriented:, • Demonstrate a proactive approach to food safety and quality assurance by taking decisive actions to address issues and implementing solutions promptly., • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and lead by example in setting high standards for performance., • Self-Development:, • Pursue ongoing learning opportunities to stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in food safety and quality assurance., • Seek feedback and engage in self-assessment to enhance personal and professional growth., • Ensures Accountability:, • Hold yourself and your team accountable for meeting food safety and quality assurance standards and goals., • Develop clear metrics for performance evaluation and address any gaps in compliance or quality promptly., • Collaborates:, • Work effectively with cross-functional teams, including production, procurement, and management, to achieve common goals related to food safety and quality., • Build strong relationships with suppliers and vendors to ensure the quality of raw materials and products., • Cultivates Innovation:, • Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging new ideas and approaches to improve food safety and quality assurance processes., • Stay abreast of technological advancements and industry trends and implement innovative solutions to enhance operational efficiency and product quality. Requirements: Supervisory Responsibilities Full responsibility of all members within the department to include coaching, training, managing to individual expectations, performance reviews including corrective measures. Placement Criteria • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or 5 years in Quality Assurance or Inventory Control with a minimum of 2-5 years in supervisory role., • Proven experience in a leadership role within Quality Assurance, preferably in the foodservice distribution industry., • In-depth knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, FSPCA, and warehouse management systems., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to evaluate quality metrics, conduct root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions., • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced and dynamic environment and perform the duties of employees supervised and other related duties as needed., • Flexibility to adapt to changes in regulations, technology, and industry practices., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with team members, management, and external stakeholders., • Employees are expected to maintain an air of professionalism in their interpersonal relationships and personal grooming, exercise confidentiality concerning the affairs of the business, exhibit a willingness to learn, willingness to problem solve, and willingness to step in to help others., • Scavuzzo’s views each of these traits as performance indicators, and employee appraisals reflect each of these attributes as an element of performance upon which employees are rated.
