Interim Management Accountant job in Devon Interim Management Accountant – ManufacturingLocation: Plymouth Start Date: Early–Mid March 2026 Duration: Minimum 6 months - Hybrid working available Day Rate: Up to £250 per day Qualification: Qualified, Part‑Qualified, or QBE About the RoleHays are partnering with a leading floor manufacturing business based in Plymouth, who are seeking an experienced Interim Management Accountant to support their finance function during a period of backlog and delayed month end reporting. You will take full ownership of the month end process within Sage 200, provide hands‑on technical accounting support, and deliver accurate, timely management accounts. This role requires someone who can stabilise processes quickly, bring structure to reporting, and work confidently within a manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded Management Accountant who can hit the ground running and make an immediate impact. Key ResponsibilitiesMonth End Accounting & Reporting • Lead and execute the full month end close process within Sage 200, • Produce accurate and timely management accounts including P&L, balance sheet reconciliations and variance analysis, • Prepare and review accruals, prepayments, journals and adjustments, • Reconcile stock, WIP, and manufacturing variances in line with best practice, • Work hands‑on within Sage 200 to ensure data integrity and smooth month end closure, • Identify weaknesses or gaps in current processes and implement practical improvements, • Strengthen financial controls, documentation and month end procedures, • Partner with production, operations, and wider finance colleagues to improve data flow, • Provide insight and recommendations to senior management, • Background as a Management Accountant, Assistant Finance Manager or similar, • Part‑qualified, fully qualified (ACA/ACCA/CIMA), or QBE with strong experience, • Hands‑on experience with Sage 200, particularly month end procedures, • Manufacturing sector experience, • Highly organised, able to prioritise quickly and effectively, • Proactive, solutions‑focused, and confident in improving processes, • Comfortable working independently in a fast‑paced, time‑pressured environment
