A leading UK retail group is seeking a commercially minded Employment Legal Counsel to join its collaborative in-house legal team. This is a high-impact role offering variety, autonomy, and the chance to shape employment practices across a large, people-focused organisation. The Role: You’ll provide strategic legal advice on a wide range of employment law matters, working closely with HR and ER teams. From handling Employment Tribunal claims to supporting policy development and large-scale consultations, your expertise will help drive fair, compliant, and effective people practices. Key Responsibilities: • Advise on all aspects of employment law including disciplinaries, grievances, redundancy, discrimination, and whistleblowing., • Manage Employment Tribunal claims end-to-end, including advocacy at preliminary hearings., • Draft and review employment contracts, policies, and procedures., • Support internal investigations and consultations., • Deliver training and legal updates to stakeholders., • Deputise for the Senior Employment Counsel when needed. About You: • UK-qualified solicitor specialising in employment law., • Strong communicator with excellent drafting and analytical skills., • Able to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice., • Comfortable working independently and cross-functionally., • In-house experience is welcome but not essential.
