Electrical Design Engineer Water & Wastewater Infrastructure If you enjoy seeing your designs make a real-world difference, keep reading. This is a hands-on Electrical Design Engineer role where your work directly shapes water and wastewater treatment facilities — from pump stations and treatment plants to complex network infrastructure. Demand is growing, projects are increasing, and this role has been created to support a busy and expanding portfolio of work. You’ll be joining a team that values practical engineering, collaboration, and ideas that actually get implemented — not parked in a drawer. If you want responsibility, variety, and the chance to influence how things are designed and delivered, this Electrical Design Engineer role gives you exactly that. No two jobs are the same, and you’ll be involved from early concept through to detailed design and delivery. As a Electrical Design Engineer, expect to: • Develop detailed and outline designs, as well as specifications for electrical works (LV distribution, controls, MCCs, cabling, automation, and instrumentation)., • Providing technical input on a daily basis to contribute to the team of engineers and technicians., • Ensure that the design output meets the agreed scope of work, as well as the budgets and timescales., • Collaborate closely with colleagues from other disciplines to meet project requirements and add value to the client., • Attend design review meetings to monitor progress. This is a collaborative, roll-your-sleeves-up environment — you’ll have the freedom to step beyond a narrow job description and genuinely influence outcomes. The Kind of Engineer Who Thrives Here You’ll do well in this role if you: • Enjoy solving practical engineering problems, not just producing drawings, • Like working across disciplines and learning how everything fits together, • Are comfortable taking responsibility and managing your own workload, • Want your ideas to be heard and used, • Care about sustainable, well-thought-out design, • Enjoy variety — office design work mixed with site exposure What You’ll Bring • 3–5+ years’ experience in mechanical and/or electrical design engineering, • Experience working within water or similar process-driven environment HNC/HND/Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent Strong CAD capability (AutoCAD, Revit or similar), • Knowledge of relevant water industry standards and regulations (e.g. WIMES, DSEAR, BS / EU standards), • Contractual and commercial knowledge Chartered or working toward professional registration is beneficial, but not essential.
