Purpose of the Role To provide practical and emotional support to individuals recovering from substance misuse, guiding them through structured recovery interventions, promoting resilience, and facilitating access to treatment, community resources, and essential life skills. Key Responsibilities Build trusting, professional relationships with clients, offering guidance and support. Conduct initial assessments to identify needs, goals, and risks. Support clients in developing and maintaining personalised recovery plans. Deliver 1:1 and group recovery sessions, focusing on harm reduction, relapse prevention, and motivational support. Facilitate access to housing, employment, education, and healthcare services. Monitor client progress, updating recovery plans and reporting outcomes. Identify safeguarding concerns and escalate appropriately in line with policy. Maintain accurate, confidential records in compliance with data protection regulations. Contribute to service evaluation, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives. Work collaboratively with colleagues, managers, and external partners, including healthcare providers, social services, and voluntary sector organisations. Participate in team meetings, case reviews, and training sessions. Person Specification Level 3 or above qualification in Health & Social Care, Counselling, Substance Misuse, or equivalent (relevant experience considered). Experience supporting adults with substance misuse issues. Knowledge of recovery models, harm reduction strategies, and relapse prevention. Strong interpersonal, communication, and organisational skills. Ability to manage a caseload effectively while demonstrating empathy and professionalism. IT literacy for maintaining client records and reporting. Desirable: Experience in recovery-focused or community substance misuse services. Awareness of mental health issues related to substance misuse. Training in motivational interviewing, CBT, or trauma-informed approaches. Why Chester?
