The Role We seek a hands-on, motivated Ecologist to join a well-established consultancy team, working a remote first role. The successful candidate will carry out diverse ecological field surveys, prepare technical reports, contribute expertise to multi-disciplinary projects, and ensure work meets statutory requirements and the latest industry standards. Key Responsibilities • Undertake ecological field surveys (habitat assessments, protected species, site appraisals), • Analyse data and produce clear, high-quality technical reports, maps, and graphics, • Advise clients and project teams on ecological impacts, mitigation, and biodiversity net gain, • Engage with clients, statutory bodies, and wider project stakeholders to communicate findings, • Ensure compliance with health & safety and best practice on site and in reporting, • Support the delivery of concurrent projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards Essential Skills & Experience • Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a closely related subject, • Experience preparing UKHAB reports and conducting UK ecological surveys, • Excellent communication and report writing skills, • Collaborative approach, strong analytical ability, attention to detail, • Up-to-date knowledge of UK and European wildlife legislation Desirable • Chartered body membership (e.g. CIEEM) or working towards it, • Protected species survey licences, • Familiarity with GIS and digital mapping, • Experience supporting planning applications, ES chapters, and biodiversity net gain Why Apply? • Work on some of the UK’s most significant and varied ecological projects, • Join a consultancy recognised for technical excellence and practical, client-focused solutions, • Opportunities for professional growth and progression - survey lead, technical specialist, project management paths, • Supportive, dynamic, and flexible workplace culture Ideal Candidates • Experience in UK ecological consultancy with a mix of field and office responsibilities, • Early- to mid-career ecologists eager to widen their technical remit, • People who enjoy working collaboratively, take pride in delivering best practice, and thrive in a solutions-driven setting
