Interim Band 6 RMN – Prison Mental Health NHS Organisation | Custodial Setting Prison Setting – Worcestershire Hours: Monday to Friday, 9:00am–5:00pm Contract: Interim – 12 weeks initially (strong expectation of extension) Rate: NHS Band 6 – Agency Capped Rates We are supporting an NHS organisation with the appointment of an experienced Band 6 Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) to work within a prison mental health service. This is an interim agency role, initially for 12 weeks, with the expectation of extension due to ongoing service demand. This position offers the opportunity to work within a structured, multidisciplinary prison healthcare team, providing specialist mental health interventions to individuals with complex needs. The Role As a Band 6 RMN, you will manage your own caseload of prisoners with primary and secondary mental health needs, delivering evidence-based nursing interventions in line with the Care Programme Approach (CPA). Key responsibilities include: • Managing a complex caseload, including assessments, care planning, interventions and reviews, • Delivering specialist mental health interventions within a custodial environment, • Working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary and multi-agency team, • Supporting continuity of care, including release planning and aftercare coordination, • Acting on referrals from prison healthcare, primary care and external mental health services, • Working within the Mental Health Act, Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding frameworks, • Maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation in line with NMC and NHS standards, • Providing advice and support to prison staff and healthcare colleagues as required Essential Requirements Candidates must meet all essential criteria to be considered • Registered Mental Health Nurse (RMN) with active NMC registration, • Proven experience working in a similar role, ideally within prison or secure settings, • Current prison clearance (mandatory), • Experience managing complex mental health caseloads independently, • Strong understanding of mental health legislation within the criminal justice system, • Confident working in a secure and sometimes challenging environment Additional Details · Monday–Friday, 9–5 working pattern (no nights) · NHS Band 6 agency capped rates · Supported placement via an experienced healthcare recruitment agency · High likelihood of contract extension beyond the initial 12 weeks How to Apply If you are an experienced Band 6 RMN with prison clearance and availability for an interim role, we would be keen to speak with you.
