Owen Reed is looking for a Document Production Technician for a top law firm in Newcastle. This is an excellent opportunity to join a highly motivated Document Production team within a modern Newcastle Hub, working closely with colleagues across both Newcastle and London offices. The role offers a hybrid working model, with 2 days in the office and 2 days working from home each week, 1 day flexible and core working hours Monday to Friday. You will play a key role in delivering high-quality, business-critical documentation, working independently while also collaborating closely with a wider national team. The Role As a Document Production Technician, you will provide professional, accurate and timely document support in a fast-paced professional services environment, ensuring all work meets strict quality, formatting and deadline requirements. Key Responsibilities Technical Expertise • Produce, amend and format lengthy and complex documents with speed and accuracy, in line with house style, • Proofread all documentation for spelling, grammar, formatting, presentation and sense, • Act as a highly knowledgeable user of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Visio and Outlook (2016), • Proactively develop technical skills, including working towards Microsoft Office Specialist (MOS) qualifications, • Apply creative thinking to redesign PowerPoint layouts and resolve document-related issues, • Troubleshoot and resolve corrupt and complex documents, • Collaborate with team members to ensure deadlines and quality expectations are consistently met Administrative Support • Maintain and update the DP team tracker and BigHand workflow, • Log incoming work accurately and ensure correct saving, tracking and return of documents, • Ensure appropriate communication with requestors at all stages of work delivery, • Attend and contribute to operational meetings, • Provide ad-hoc support including scanning and photocopying when required Professional & Team Support • Proactively clarify instructions and deadlines with fee earners and managers, • Respond to internal and external enquiries professionally and courteously, • Support team members and provide cover when required, • Ensure effective handover of work between shifts, • Build strong working relationships across teams and locations General Approach • Demonstrate a positive, proactive and ‘can-do’ attitude, • Take initiative in resolving document challenges and sharing best practice, • Show flexibility to meet business needs, including occasional shift changes with notice, • Maintain excellent reliability, punctuality and professionalism, • Work confidently both independently in the office and remotely with colleagues via phone and Zoom Skills & Experience Required • Proven document production experience within a fast-paced professional services environment, • Strong experience working with templates and strict house styles, • Exposure to lengthy, scanned and corrupt documents, • Typing speed of 65 wpm or above, with proficiency in audio and copy typing, • Advanced user of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Visio (2016), • Experience using PDF Docs, Adobe Pro and DocXTools, • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy, • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines, • Strong communication, organisation and client care skills, • Proactive, solutions-focused mindset with strong problem-solving ability, • MOS Word Expert qualification essential (additional MOS qualifications desirable), • A collaborative team player with confidence and professional judgement, • Flexibility to work outside core hours when required to meet client deadlines
