About the Role: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior SCADA and Controls Engineer to build and lead a multidisciplinary team delivering substation automation and control systems for renewable energy projects across the UK. This includes Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS), solar PV, and onshore/offshore wind projects. The successful candidate will play a key role in the design, integration, and commissioning of SCADA and control systems, ensuring compliance with UK grid codes and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: • Build, lead and mentor a team of SCADA and controls engineers across multiple projects., • Oversee the design, configuration, and implementation of SCADA systems for substations and renewable energy assets., • Develop and review control philosophies, functional design specifications (FDS), and interface control documents (ICDs)., • Produce SCADA IO Schedules, • Produce communications philosophy documents, • Produce site specific communications and SCADA architecture drawings., • Produce or contribute to the production of project specific multicore cable schedules., • Ensure integration of SCADA with third-party systems (e.g., DNO/DSO, NGESO, EMS, BMS, RTUs, PLCs)., • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation in collaboration with project managers., • Support grid compliance activities including G99/G100, ENA EREC standards, and National Grid requirements., • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders including clients, DNOs, OEMs, and EPC contractors., • Ensure cybersecurity and data integrity in SCADA and control system architectures., • Conduct FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities., • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in SCADA and control system design and delivery., • Have an in depth knowledge of energy trading platforms and grid services (e.g., FFR, Dynamic Containment). Essential Skills & Experience: Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering (or equivalent). Proven experience in SCADA and control systems within the power or renewable energy sector. Strong knowledge of substation automation, IEC 61850, Modbus, DNP3, and OPC protocols. Experience with BESS, solar, and wind control systems and grid integration. Familiarity with UK grid codes, G99/G100, and National Grid connection processes. Proficiency in SCADA platforms (e.g., GE, Siemens, Schneider, ABB, Wonderware). Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills. Willingness to travel to project sites across the UK. Desirable Qualifications: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards it. Experience with cybersecurity standards (e.g., IEC 62443). Knowledge of energy management systems (EMS) and data analytics platforms.
