Job summary An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our nationally recognised and respected Vascular Access Team at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust. The Vascular Access Team is a specialist nursing team that includes Clinical Nurse Specialists, Assistant Practitioners and Clinical Support Workers. The team is well established and has been providing a service at Rotherham NHS Foundation Trust for nearly 30 years. We are looking to strengthen our team further and are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated individual to work as an Assistant Practitioner. Within this busy clinical service, you will assist in providing specialist assessment and support for people requiring insertion and care of intravenous access devices. The individual will also be responsible for ultrasound guided cannulation and phlebotomy. You will be an integral member of the Vascular Access Team. You will contribute to a trust wide supportive service providing expert clinical skills and knowledge for patients requiring intravenous access and IV therapy. This role is 32 hours per week. To enable you to experience our working environment and to give us the opportunity to offer you a more detailed insight into the position, we encourage you to come to the department for an informal visit and discussion Main duties of the job The fundamental role and responsibilities for this vacancy are as follows: Undertake intravenous clinical skills in line with FdSc Professional Practice in Health & Social Care / Higher Apprenticeship in Assistant Practitioner (Health). The post holder is responsible for ultrasound guided cannulation and phlebotomy on a daily basis. The post holder is responsible for gaining peripheral vascular access and obtaining blood samples on a daily basis. The post holder is responsible for undertaking education, audit and surveillance associated with vascular access on a weekly basis. The post holder will maintain accurate clinical records every time they undertake clinical duties. Carry out any other duties appropriate to the grade as requested by the Registered Nurse team within Vascular Access.
