Job descriptionA national Vehicle service in the Coventry area is looking for two Maintenance Coordinators to join their teamThe ideal candidate will be a hard-working and adaptable Coordinator with a strong technical background. Operating in a fast-paced environment, you will report to the Toolroom Manager and support both the Maintenance department and company SuppliersRole: Technical Maintenance CoordinatorLocation: CoventrySalary: £36,500Shift: Days (hybrid – three days in office, two from home)Hours: 37.5 hours pwKey Responsibilities\n\n • Authorise vehicle repairs in line with company policies, budgets, and service standards.\n, • Review repair history, warranty status, and previous maintenance to avoid unnecessary expenditure.\n, • Challenge repair costs, labour times, and parts pricing to achieve best value.\n, • Proactively monitor vehicle downtime and work with repairers to return vehicles to service as quickly as possible.\n, • Build strong working relationships with external repairers, suppliers, manufacturers, and customers.\n, • Investigate opportunities to recover costs through warranty claims, goodwill contributions, or supplier accountability.\n, • Source suitable replacement parts where required to minimise delays.\n, • Ensure rechargeable repairs are correctly identified, documented, and communicated.\n, • Monitor maintenance expenditure against agreed budgets and identify opportunities for cost savings.\n, • Escalate unresolved technical or supplier issues where appropriate.\n, • Maintain accurate maintenance records and provide performance data and reports as required.\n, • Support colleagues across the maintenance and customer service teams to deliver an excellent customer experience.\nGeneral Responsibilities\n\n, • Comply with all health, safety, environmental, and company policies.\n, • Deliver excellent customer service to both internal and external stakeholders.\n, • Attend training and development activities as required.\n, • Maintain a professional approach and appearance at all times.\n, • Undertake any other reasonable duties appropriate to the role.\nAbout YouYou'll have a strong technical background in commercial vehicle maintenance together with excellent communication and negotiation skills. You are confident making decisions, managing multiple priorities, and balancing customer service with commercial awareness.Essential Skills & Experience\n\n, • Previous experience as an HGV/LGV Technician, Workshop Controller, Maintenance Controller, or similar technical role.\n, • Strong understanding of commercial vehicle maintenance and repair standards.\n, • Experience managing repairs through third-party workshops or suppliers.\n, • Good knowledge of repair methods, labour times, and parts pricing.\n, • Proven ability to control maintenance costs without compromising quality or compliance.\n, • Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.\n, • Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise a busy workload.\n, • Good IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and maintenance management systems.\n, • Ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team.\n, • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.\nDesirable\n\n, • Experience within fleet management, contract hire, rental, logistics, or transport operations.\n, • Knowledge of warranty processes and cost recovery.\n, • Familiarity with vehicle damage assessment or body repair processes.\nWhat We're Looking ForWe're seeking someone who combines technical expertise with commercial awareness and enjoys working in a fast-paced operational environment.
