Director of Business Improvement Salary: £70,000 - £80,000 per annum Contract Type: Permanent, full time (37.5 hours) Team: Technology Reports to: Chief Technology Officer Location: Hybrid / Remote (occasional travel to CMAC HQ in Accrington and other offices) As Director of Business Improvement, you’ll be the driving force behind how CMAC Group evolves and improves. You’ll lead high impact transformation across the Group by shaping smarter, more connected ways of working that deliver real commercial value. You’ll unite stakeholders, technology teams and a talented Business Analyst function to drive data‑led decisions and champion change that sticks. Together, you’ll embed a culture of continuous improvement and learning that helps CMAC Group evolve. Core Responsibilities: 1. Strategic Leadership & Transformation · Lead the identification, prioritisation and delivery of high impact business improvement initiatives aligned to CMAC Group strategy. · Shape and influence the long term improvement roadmap, ensuring initiatives deliver measurable commercial and operational value. · Act as a strategic partner to senior leadership, providing challenge, insight, and direction on business performance and transformation opportunities. 2. Process Excellence & Optimisation · Establish and embed consistent methodologies for process mapping, analysis and redesign across CMAC Group. · Oversee the end-to-end optimisation of core business processes to improve efficiency, scalability and customer experience. · Ensure processes are aligned to regulatory, commercial, and operational requirements, with clear ownership and governance in place. 3. Systems Thinking & Problem Solving · Apply systems thinking to understand complex organisational challenges, identifying interdependencies and root causes. · Design and implement sustainable solutions that address underlying issues rather than short term fixes. · Continuously evaluate the effectiveness of improvements, ensuring long term benefits are realised and maintained. 4. Change Management & Adoption · Lead the development and execution of change management strategies that support successful delivery of new processes and systems. · Engage stakeholders at all levels to build understanding, commitment and readiness for change. · Ensure effective communication, training, and support mechanisms are in place to embed new ways of working. 5. Business & Technology Alignment · Translate strategic business needs into clear, prioritised requirements for technology and delivery teams. · Collaborate closely with digital and IT functions to ensure solutions are fit for purpose, scalable and aligned to future needs. · Act as a bridge between commercial and technical stakeholders, ensuring clarity, alignment and successful delivery outcomes. 6. Stakeholder Engagement & Influence · Build and maintain strong, trust based relationships with senior leaders and key stakeholders across the Group. · Influence decision making through clear communication, evidence-based insights and well structured recommendations. · Facilitate cross functional collaboration to break down silos and enable joined up delivery of improvement initiatives. 7. Data, Insight & Performance · Use data, analytics and business insight to identify opportunities, track performance and measure the impact of initiatives. · Develop robust business cases and investment proposals, ensuring clear return on investment and alignment to strategic goals. · Establish performance frameworks and KPIs to monitor and sustain improvements over time. 8. Leadership & Capability Development · Lead, coach and develop a high performing team of Business Analysts, setting clear standards and expectations. · Build organisational capability in business analysis and continuous improvement methodologies. · Foster a supportive and high performance culture that encourages learning, accountability and professional growth. 9. Culture & Continuous Improvement · Champion a culture of continuous improvement, innovation and curiosity across the CMAC. · Promote best practice, knowledge sharing, and collaboration across teams and functions. · Ensure continuous improvement becomes embedded in day-to-day operations, not just discrete projects. The Essentials: · Demonstrable strategic experience operating at a senior level, shaping strategy and leading large scale transformation or business improvement programmes. · Proven track record in business improvement delivering measurable performance improvements including process optimisation, cost efficiency and enhanced customer outcomes. · Advanced analytical and problem solving capability with the ability to interpret complex data, apply systems thinking and translate insight into clear, actionable solutions. · Extensive experience leading organisational change, with a strong understanding of how to drive engagement, adoption and sustained behavioural change. · Expert knowledge of process improvement approaches (e.g. Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent) and experience embedding them at scale. · Ability to build robust business cases, evaluate investment decisions, and ensure initiatives deliver tangible return on investment. · Confident engaging and influencing at executive level, building credibility and trust across a wide range of stakeholders. · Experience bridging business needs with technology delivery, translating requirements clearly for digital and technical teams. · Proven ability to lead, inspire, and develop high performing teams, creating a culture of accountability, growth and excellence. · Able to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively, tailoring messages to different audiences. · Comfortable operating in a fast paced, evolving environment, managing ambiguity and driving progress through complexity.
