You will play a central role in shaping how we communicate internally and externally. From keeping our teams informed and engaged to raising our profile in the industry and supporting customer-facing events, this is a varied and hands-on position ideal for a creative self-starter with a passion for clear, compelling communication. The role will be based in Rugeley, Staffordshire with options for hybrid and flexible working, and will also support our sites in New York and Connecticut. Key Responsibilities Strategic Communications Planning • Develop and implement global marketing communications strategies aligned with business objectives, product launches, and international naval defence programmes., • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Business Development, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure unified messaging., • Work with leadership and technical teams to craft messaging that clearly communicates our value proposition to customers, partners, and stakeholders., • Manage branding and visual identity, ensuring consistency across all materials and platforms. Content Development & Campaigns • Create and oversee the production of high-impact content including brochures, white papers, technical articles, case studies, and multimedia assets., • Plan and manage integrated campaigns to support naval exhibitions, trade shows (e.g. Sea Air Space, DSEI, CNE, Indo Pac) and product launches. Media & Public Relations • Serve as a point of contact for defence media outlets, coordinating interviews, press releases, and feature stories in industry publications., • Manage ESCO’s involvement and support of relevant industry bodies, (e.g. ADS, SMI, IMarEST). Digital & Social Media • Drive online presence through targeted digital marketing and strategic use of platforms including the corporate website, LinkedIn and defence-specific forums., • Analyse digital campaign performance using tools like Google Analytics, CRM platforms, and internal dashboards. Stakeholder & Partner Engagement • Develop tailored communication for key stakeholders including naval procurement officials within the SDA, NCHQ and MOD, international ministries of defence, prime contractors, and OEM partners., • Ensure alignment with export regulations and ITAR/EAR compliance in all communications. Event Management • Plan and execute internal and external events, including exhibitions, VIP naval delegations, product demonstrations, industry events, open days, supplier conferences and recruitment events., • Lead coordination of branding and company promotion to reinforce strategic messaging., • Act as the key point of contact for event logistics, branding, messaging, and materials., • Support the leadership team with preparation for speaking engagements, presentations, and exhibitions. Internal Communications • Develop and execute a strategic internal communications plan that aligns with business goals., • Manage and maintain the company’s intranet site, ensuring content is timely, relevant, and engaging., • Create and distribute regular internal content, including newsletters, announcements, leadership updates, and team stories., • Support leaders in delivering clear, consistent messaging across all sites., • Organise and coordinate internal events such as town halls, briefings, staff engagement initiatives, and virtual gatherings., • Transform documents and presentations into polished, professional formats. Qualifications / Skills Required • Degree in Marketing, Communications, International Relations, or a related field preferred., • Good experience in marketing communications within the defence, aerospace, or naval sectors., • Proven success in leading international campaigns and high-stakes communications within a government/defence setting., • Strong understanding of maritime/defence procurement cycles, contracting, and export controls., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to tailor messaging across technical and non-technical audiences., • Willingness to travel internationally and work across time zones., • Familiarity with defence platforms such as submarines, surface vessels and UUVs some knowledge of key platform systems and sensors., • Proficiency in managing CRM platforms (e.g., Microsoft Dynamics)., • Experience managing intranet and website platforms (e.g. SharePoint, WordPress)., • Proficiency in design and presentation tools (e.g. PowerPoint, Canva, Adobe Suite)., • Comfortable working independently in a fast-paced, multi-site environment., • Confident managing relationships across functions, including with senior leaders., • Experience delivering events from concept to execution.
