The Opportunity: SHEQ Lead Contract: Permanent Location: Cannock / Staffordshire / West Midlands / Derbyshire / Leicestershire The Briggs Equipment Group is a leading provider of asset management and maintenance solutions across the UK and Ireland. The Impact you will have: To promote and drive a positive approach to SHEQ and a positive SHEQ culture within Specialist Services Vertical and the wider group. To provide proactive support, guidance, advice and coaching to all stakeholders throughout your allocated region on all SHEQ related matters. Ensure continued compliance with company policies/ procedures, ISO accreditations and other requirements within region. Developing and implementing new processes to ensure to ensure continued effectiveness and legal/ best practice compliance. Planning and undertaking SHEQ audits as per agreed targets. Support the implementation of business projects in the fields of health and safety, quality or environment including planning and leading smaller projects. Identifying areas of risk or non-conformity and acting on them appropriately. Engaging with customers, contractors, regulatory bodies, insurance loss adjusters and other interested parties on health and safety, quality and environmental related matters occurring within your region. Writing, reviewing and developing various risk assessments (general, COSHH, fire, transport, vibration and display screen equipment). Writing, reviewing and developing Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Investigating incidents/ concerns directly and implementing suitable remedial actions ensuring wider communication of any findings that could affect other business units. Providing advice and guidance to others undertaking incident investigations. Ensuring remedial actions identified within region are completed in a timely manner. Coordinating H&S Rep activity within the region and supporting H&S Reps in their role. Chairing and attending SHEQ meetings at all levels (both internal and external). Recording and analysing health and safety, quality and environmental statistics and KPI's. Supporting customers in health, safety, environmental and quality matters. Assisting in tender processes for potential and existing customers. Supporting reviews of supplier and contractor health, safety, environmental and quality standards Remaining up to date with legislative and best practice developments and maintain Continual Professional Development (CPD) under a structured program (IOSH). Managing and conducting presentations and making proposals for improvements. Facing and assessing customers and suppliers' safety performance. Leading Avetta management to ensure business safety compliance. Developing and providing essential safety training. Leading safety trials and conducting staff surveys to assess and enhance workplace safety practices Participating in industry related forums and working groups Coordinating occupational health programmes relevant to your region. Participating and representing business at Customer Safety days, Safety Events, etc. Implementing continuous improvement initiatives and campaigns to enhance the overall safety, health, environmental, and quality performance of the organisation. Acting as a liaison between management, employees, regulatory bodies, and other stakeholders to communicate safety, health, environmental, and quality-related matters. Developing and implementing emergency response plans to address potential crises. Support in any other SHEQ related activities as agreed with your Line Manager. What will help you to excel in this role: NEBOSH Diploma, NCRQ Diploma (or similar Level 6 Safety Qualification) is essential Lead Auditor Qualification (e.g. ISO 45001, 14001, 9001, etc.) is desirable Cert-IOSH or Chartered IOSH Accreditation/ status Significant and Demonstrable experience in a full time SHEQ Advisory Position Demonstrable engagement with and support of making SHEQ related improvements Demonstrable commercial awareness Self-motivated individual with the ability to plan workload Significant experience of heavy engineering, mobile plant, aggregates or quarrying industry Computer literate to an advanced level Driving Licence / Willing to travel throughout Great Britain What's next If you are interested in joining the Briggs Group then please click on the apply now button and a member of the team will be in touch Not sure if this is the right role for you?
