Software Tester (Manual QA, with some automation) Manchester / Hybrid (two days in office) Permanent : £35k - £45k We're working on behalf of a Manchester-based membership client looking for a Software Tester to play a key role in maintaining quality across its digital platforms as the business accelerates delivery across web and mobile. Predominantly this role will be manual. However they have a Playwright framework in place, so if you have some automation experience, or a desire to upskill in this area, this could be the right next more for you. This role sits within a fast-moving engineering function and will work closely with developers, product, and design to ensure features are delivered with confidence, consistency, and reliability. What you’ll be doing • Creating, maintaining, and executing structured test cases using modern test management tools, • Carrying out smoke, regression, exploratory, black box, and user acceptance testing, • Writing clear, well-structured Gherkin-style acceptance tests and scenarios, • Validating functionality for web (.NET), mobile applications (React Native), and backend APIs, • Using API testing tools such as Postman or Insomnia to verify backend behaviour, • Working closely with developers to reproduce issues, triage defects, and drive rapid resolution, • Supporting experimentation and CRO initiatives by validating variant behaviour and data integrity, • Contributing to continuous improvement of QA processes, test coverage, and delivery workflows What they’re looking for • 3+ years of manual QA experience in a digital or ecommerce environment, • Experience testing across web, mobile, and API layers, • Strong understanding of modern testing methodologies and structured test case design, • Experience using test management tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, or qTest, • Hands-on experience with API testing tools such as Postman Nice to have • Experience mentoring or supporting junior QA team members, • Exposure to mobile testing, device-level testing, or test matrix design, • Familiarity with automation frameworks or an interest in developing automation skills over time Why this role? Role Overview We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive UAT Tester to support the testing and delivery of applications, web platforms, and EPOS/POS systems. This role sits at the intersection of product, development, and stakeholders, ensuring solutions meet business requirements and deliver a high-quality user experience. You will be responsible for planning and executing user acceptance testing, providing clear feedback to developers, supporting the product lifecycle, and contributing to product demonstrations. Key Responsibilities • Perform User Acceptance Testing (UAT) across:, • Mobile and desktop applications, • Web platforms, • EPOS and POS systems, • Validate system functionality against business and user requirements, • Create, execute, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scenarios, • Identify, document, and track defects using agreed tools and processes, • Provide clear, structured feedback to developers and product teams, • Retest fixes and support regression testing where required, • Actively participate in the product lifecycle, from requirements review through to release and post-deployment support, • Support and contribute to product demonstrations, showcasing features and functionality to stakeholders and clients, • Collaborate closely with developers, product managers, and business users to clarify requirements and expected outcomes, • Ensure testing is completed within agreed timelines and quality standards Skills & Experience • Proven experience in UAT testing or a similar QA role, • Experience testing applications, web platforms, EPOS and/or POS systems, • Excellent defect reporting and documentation skills, • Strong communication skills, with the ability to explain technical issues to non-technical stakeholders, • Comfortable presenting and supporting product demos, • Highly organised with strong attention to detail, • Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively Location Office based Whitefield, Manchester Salary • £30,000 - £35,000 per annum (depending on experience)
