We are seeking a 12‑month Locum Consultant in Trauma & Orthopaedics, focusing on Adult Trauma and Lower Limb Surgery, to join a team of 24 Orthopaedic Consultants at our Trust's Pinderfields, Pontefract & Dewsbury hospitals. The role emphasizes Lower Limb surgical service and requires a sub‑specialty interest and fellowship experience in this area, with in‑depth adult trauma training. • Provide a comprehensive orthopaedic service including general adult and paediatric trauma, with particular experience in lower and upper limb trauma., • Take clinical responsibility for patients under your care and deliver evidence‑based care in a multidisciplinary setting., • Contribute to undergraduate, postgraduate, and multi‑professional educational development., • Participate in a 1:16 on‑call commitment for urgent and emergency care and demonstrate active trauma management., • Deliver a comprehensive lower‑limb surgical service, focusing on day‑case and inpatient trauma surgery, and develop adult elective lower‑limb service including out‑patient assessment, investigation and treatment., • Maintain fellowship‑level subspecialty lower‑limb surgery training and recent experience in general adult trauma., • Full GMC registration with license to practice, on the GMC Specialist Register., • Medical degree from an accredited medical school., • FRCS (Trauma & Orthopaedics) or equivalent., • ATLS provider., • Eligibility to work in the UK., • Experience in independent consultant practice in general orthopaedics & trauma., • Fellowship experience in lower‑limb surgery (minimum 6 months)., • Demonstrated analytical problem‑solving ability., • Evidence of audit work that has led to change., • Skill in organising and managing a clinical workload., • Research skills, including publication of peer‑reviewed articles and a clear understanding of research methodology., • Knowledge of NHS structures and management arrangements., • Strong time‑management skills., • Ability to contribute to the development of the Trust and its services., • Excellent communication skills with staff and patients., • Compassionate and caring attitude., • Flexibility, adaptability and willingness to learn and adhere to local policies., • Proven teamwork skills and the ability to work within multidisciplinary teams., • Physical ability to carry out the duties and demonstrate required competencies., • Ability to access all Trust sites in a timely manner., • Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) clearance., • Access to the NHS pension plan., • Generous holiday allowance of 27 days plus bank holidays, increasing with 5 and 10 years of service., • Exceptional employee health and wellbeing services., • Onsite nurseries and childcare salary‑sacrifice scheme., • Home electronics scheme., • Cycle‑to‑work scheme (subject to eligibility)., • Car lease salary‑sacrifice scheme (subject to eligibility)., • Working carer support and advice, carers network and carers passport., • Flexible working options and family and carer‑friendly policies., • Established staff networks, including LGBTQ+ and Race Equality., • Career progression, training and support.
