We are recruiting Meter Readers for specific locations across England and Scotland. As a Meter Reader, you will visit residential and commercial properties to collect accurate gas and electricity meter readings using a handheld electronic device. You will plan your routes, manage your workload and work towards weekly targets. Some properties may require longer walks, particularly in rural areas, so the role can be physically active. Previous meter reading experience is not required, as full training is provided. Working Hours Full-time: Flexible working between 8:00am and 8:00pm, Monday to Sunday. This will generally be a Monday-to-Friday role, although some flexibility may be required depending on operational requirements. Part-time: Opportunities may also be available. Applicants must be able to demonstrate the required flexibility for their allocated area. Key Responsibilities • Visit residential and commercial properties to obtain gas and electricity meter readings, • Accurately record readings using a handheld electronic device, • Plan and manage your daily routes and workload, • Work towards weekly targets, • Provide professional and courteous customer service, • Report dangerous meter installations or suspected meter tampering, • Follow company health and safety procedures, • Travel between properties within your allocated recruitment area, • Work independently while maintaining high standards of accuracy and customer service About You We are looking for candidates who are: • Self-motivated, reliable and energetic, • Comfortable working independently, • Friendly, approachable and professional, • Physically able to walk between properties during the working day, • Comfortable working outdoors in different weather conditions, • Able to work towards targets and deadlines, • Confident using a smartphone or handheld electronic device, • Hold a full UK manual driving licence, • Able to pass the required screening, vetting and DBS checks, • Resident within the specified postcode area for the vacancy applied for Training Provided Full training is provided, including: • 2 days of office-based training, • 2 days of field-based training, • Fully paid training, • Smart-casual clothing required for induction, • Uniform provided following induction, • Parking expenses can be claimed in line with the company expenses process Why Apply? • Work outdoors rather than in a traditional office, • Meet and assist customers, • Work independently and manage your own routes, • Stay active while working, • Full training provided, • Previous meter reading experience is not required, • Temporary opportunity with specific local recruitment areas Before You Apply Please check your residential postcode carefully before applying.
