We are seeking a versatile Cover Supervisor / Pastoral Support Lead to join our dedicated team in Blackpool. This is a full-time (5 days a week) role within a specialist school catering to children and young people with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs and Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC). The Role: Impact Beyond the Lesson Plan This unique dual-role is perfect for someone who thrives on variety and is passionate about student wellbeing. You will be a consistent, calming presence across the school, responsible for: • Adaptive Cover: Delivering pre-planned lessons across various subjects, ensuring a stable and productive learning environment when teachers are absent., • Pastoral Mentoring: Acting as a key point of contact for students, providing emotional support, and helping them navigate social challenges or "big feelings.", • De-escalation & Regulation: Using trauma-informed approaches to help students regulate their emotions and re-engage with their learning., • Experience: Previous experience working with SEMH, ASC, or "at-risk" youth (this could be in a school, youth work, or residential setting)., • Confidence: The ability to manage a classroom and command respect through building genuine relationships rather than just "authority.", • Resilience: A thick skin and a warm heart.
