Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) – Bezos Centre for Sustainable Protein At the Bezos Centre, our mission is clear: breakthrough science should not remain in the lab, but reach markets, industries, and communities where it can make real impact. We are seeking an Entrepreneur in Residence (EiR) to help transform our pioneering research into scalable ventures. This is a unique opportunity to work at the interface of science, entrepreneurship, and venture creation, shaping the future of technologies emerging from the Centre. What You’ll Be Doing As our EiR, you will play a key role in translating innovation into impact. You will be a part of the commercialisation team and your work will involve cataloguing the centre's technological strengths, intellectual property, and research portfolio. You will identify commercial opportunities by assessing market fit and potential applications for emerging technologies; and work with IP teams and our industry/VC networks to prioritise and move these ideas forward. You will collaborate with researchers and the commercialisation team at the Bezos centre to shape spin-out strategies, business models, and go-to-market plans. You will help build high-performing teams by tapping into the Centre’s talent network and recruiting entrepreneurial leaders to drive ventures forward. Later down the line, you will guide technologies from ideation through validation, fundraising, market entry, and growth, and you will partner with academics, industry experts, investors, and ecosystem players to accelerate venture success. Commitment This role is designed as a paid, part-time engagement, initially requiring a few hours each month, making it ideal for experienced entrepreneurs, executives, or investors who are already engaged in other ventures or roles. Over the coming years, the time commitment may gradually increase as opportunities and ventures mature. What We Offer This is a high-impact role at the heart of our innovation pipeline. As EiR, you will gain direct access to world-class researchers and breakthrough technologies in the food and related innovation spaces. You will expand your network of investors, advisors, and industry leaders in the food space, supported by connections from the Centre. You will work in an entrepreneurial environment with the freedom to experiment, iterate, and drive bold ideas forward. Most importantly, you will be part of a community that values curiosity, speed, and real-world impact. Who You Are You are entrepreneurial at heart, with a very strong scientific and technical knowledge in synthetic or engineering biology and ingredients, and/or alternative proteins/future food technologies, coupled with a deep commercial awareness. You have experience as a founder, early-stage investor, startup executive, or commercialisation expert. You have built or scaled startups, ideally in life sciences or food-tech, and you can evaluate technologies and translate them into compelling market opportunities. You are equally comfortable with strategy and hands-on execution, and you bring a track record of success in team-building, fundraising, or market entry. You are able to work effectively with academics, investors, and corporate partners to move opportunities forward. What We Need from You Please submit both a CV and a motivation letter to In your cover letter, please explain why you are excited about the Entrepreneur in Residence role at the Bezos Centre, highlight your experience in understanding emerging technologies and assessing their commercial potential, and share examples of how you have created successful links between scientific innovation and market opportunities. We would also like to hear about how you have supported or collaborated with aspiring or established entrepreneurs, researchers, investors, or industry partners in moving ventures from concept to impact - or if you have founded a startup yourself.
