American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Rehabilitation Med Surg for a travel nursing job in Phoenix, Arizona. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Rehabilitation, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/09/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Inpatient Neuro Rehab unit in an acute care, Level 1 Trauma hospital setting, • 52-bed unit serving a 90% neuro population, including TBI, brain tumor resection, CVA, lung transplant, and liver transplant patients, • RN-to-patient ratio of 1:6; Tech ratio of 1:8, • 12-hour night shifts, • 4 weekend shifts required per 4-week period, • Holiday coverage based on unit rotation, • Floating required to any Med/Surg unit, • 2-shift floor-specific orientation, • Charting in Cerner EMR, • Unit is supported by 2 Charge RNs (with light assignments), Nurse Aides, a SWAT RN IV team, Respiratory Therapy (24/7), and Pharmacy (24/7), • 3 Rehab Physicians round daily with on-call coverage at night, • Interdisciplinary team rounds; patients receive therapy 5/7 days, approximately 3 hours per day, • Average patient length of stay is 19–21 days, • No telemetry or ventilator management required, • Candidates must permanently reside at least 50 miles from the facility; driver's license is used to verify permanent address, • Candidates who have been directly employed (full-time, part-time, or PRN) by any CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity Health facility within the past year are not eligible — candidates employed PRN through outside firms will be considered, • A pass/fail SIMs Lab assessment is conducted on Day 1 of orientation, covering Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes; nurses who have broken sterile field have been terminated during this assessment, • Orientation also includes educational sessions on lifts, restraints, and wound care, • Failing the Relias Dysrhythmia exam or the Day 1 sterile technique test on a second attempt results in a 6-month ineligibility period for CommonSpirit facilities in Arizona and the Sacramento, CA region, • Slate grey scrubs required, • Unit is a low-stimulation environment; busiest times are 6–9 AM and 6:30–9 PM, • Nurses are expected to be proficient in acute Med/Surg skills including IV therapy and wound care\n \n Requirements\n, • Active AZ or Compact (NLC) RN license required at time of consideration — pending licenses are not accepted, • Minimum 2 years of RN experience required, • Strong Med/Surg experience required; Inpatient Rehab experience preferred, • Level 1 Trauma experience required, • Current BLS certification required — pending certifications not accepted, • FIM (Functional Independence Measure) certification required, • Cerner EMR experience required, • Must pass the Relias Dysrhythmia exam prior to offer confirmation (2 attempts allowed), • Must demonstrate competency in sterile technique, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes, • 2 professional references required: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years, both including dates of employment and eligibility for rehire, • Driver's license required for consideration, • Must maintain natural hair color, have no facial piercings, and men must be clean-shaven (for fit testing purposes), • Must have personal vehicle available for the assignment, • Comfortable with high-level communication and active involvement with patients and families\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
