Treasury Analyst (Operations), PE-Backed Insurance Startup (NYC Hybrid)

You've spent years learning treasury the right way. Daily cash positioning, bank reconciliations, wire processing, building the muscle memory that makes a treasury function actually run. But somewhere along the way, the ceiling showed up. You're good at what you do, and nobody's asking you to do more. ⠀ This is the role where "more" is the entire job description. ⠀ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗔𝗡𝗬 Pave Talent is hiring on behalf of our client, a fast-growing insurance carrier backed by a major private equity firm. This is a company that barely existed two years ago and has already scaled to a full operating team, with serious capital behind it and senior leadership pulled from some of the most recognized names in the industry. ⠀ The treasury function is brand new. You'd be joining a small, tight team working directly with the Treasurer to build operations from the ground up. This isn't a 60-person finance org where treasury runs on autopilot. Here, your work is visible to the CFO and CEO from day one, and you'll have a level of access and impact that takes years to earn at a larger company. ⠀ 𝗖𝗔𝗥𝗘𝗘𝗥 𝗔𝗖𝗖𝗘𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 The company just signed with Kyriba for their Treasury Management System, and the implementation hasn't started yet. The Senior Treasury Analyst will drive that buildout, but as the person running daily operations, you'll be right in the middle of it: testing workflows, migrating your daily processes into the new system, and becoming the first power user. That kind of hands-on TMS exposure is rare at the analyst level, and here it's baked into your first year. ⠀ The Treasurer put it simply: "We're building something. I need people who understand that the job will get interesting, but right now it's a lot of rolling up your sleeves." ⠀ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗢𝗣𝗣𝗢𝗥𝗧𝗨𝗡𝗜𝗧𝗬 This is an operations-first treasury role. The Senior Treasury Analyst (being hired separately) will own analytical work and oversight. Your job is to own and run the daily treasury engine: cash positioning, wire processing, bank reconciliation, payment operations, and the hands-on work that keeps the function moving. ⠀ You'll report directly to the Treasurer in a team of three. There is no VP or SVP layer between you and leadership. The company operates on a flat, collaborative structure where titles are simple and access is real. ⠀ 𝗪𝗛𝗔𝗧 𝗬𝗢𝗨'𝗟𝗟 𝗕𝗨𝗜𝗟𝗗 • Own daily cash positioning across all bank accounts; manage and execute wire transfers, ACH payments, and intercompany funding, • Perform daily bank reconciliations and resolve discrepancies with banking partners, • Support banking infrastructure buildout: account setup, signatory management, and direct bank relationship contact (currently on JPMorgan Access), • Support the Kyriba TMS implementation from the operations side: test daily workflows, validate cash positioning and payment processes in the new system, and transition from manual/spreadsheet operations to integrated TMS use, • Assist with cash flow forecasting inputs by gathering data cross-functionally from accounting, investment, and operations teams, • Support liquidity monitoring, collateral tracking, and capital requirement reporting as the insurance platform scales, • Help build and document treasury SOPs, controls, and workflows where none currently exist, • Assist with FHLB program administration and other funding source operations as the capital structure evolves ⠀ 𝗧𝗛𝗘 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗟 𝗧𝗔𝗟𝗞 This is a startup. Right now, even the Treasurer is moving cash. There are no inherited playbooks, no established SOPs, and no large team to absorb the learning curve. The hiring manager said it directly: "If I'm doing that, then everybody's all hands on deck." ⠀ If you want a role where your boundaries are clearly defined and someone else handles the ambiguity, this isn't it. If you want a role where you build something real and get a decade's worth of exposure in two years, keep reading. ⠀ You also need to understand how insurance companies make money. That isn't optional. The team recently passed on a candidate specifically because they couldn't articulate the basic insurance business model. You don't need to come from insurance, but you need to have done your homework. ⠀ 𝗤𝗨𝗔𝗟𝗜𝗙𝗜𝗖𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡𝗦 𝗥𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗱: • 2 to 8 years of corporate treasury experience (more than 8 is likely too senior for this role), • Hands-on daily experience with cash positioning, wire processing, and bank reconciliation (not just forecasting or analytics), • Working knowledge of banking platforms (JPMorgan Access experience is a strong plus), • Ability to commute to Midtown Manhattan 4 days per week, no exceptions, • Understanding of how insurance companies generate revenue (you will be asked about this) ⠀ 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀 𝗣𝗼𝗶𝗻𝘁𝘀: • Experience at a small to mid-size company where you touched multiple treasury functions (not just one silo at a large carrier), • Familiarity with Kyriba or comparable TMS as a daily user, • CTP certification or in progress, • Insurance, reinsurance, or financial services industry background, • Experience building processes from scratch: SOPs, controls, reporting templates, • Exposure to FHLB, revolving credit facilities, or capital markets operations ⠀ 𝗖𝗢𝗠𝗣𝗘𝗡𝗦𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗔𝗡𝗗 𝗕𝗘𝗡𝗘𝗙𝗜𝗧𝗦 𝗕𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝗦𝗮𝗹𝗮𝗿𝘆: $130,000 to $150,000 𝗕𝗼𝗻𝘂𝘀: 10% to 15% annual target 𝗧𝗶𝗺𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳: 20 vacation days, 5 sick days, 14 paid company holidays 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵𝗰𝗮𝗿𝗲: Multiple plan options with 100% employer-paid medical and dental available (varies by zip code; 8 to 10 plans depending on state). Vision is employee-paid. 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗿𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁: 401(k) with employer match 𝗦𝗰𝗵𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗹𝗲: Monday through Thursday in-office (Midtown Manhattan, near Grand Central), remote Fridays. Core hours approximately 8:30 AM to 5:30 PM. No late-night culture; the team is typically out by 5:30. 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗢𝗳𝗳𝗶𝗰𝗲: Modern space in Midtown Manhattan, fully stocked with snacks and drinks. A team of roughly 65 people, growing fast. Flat culture with no VP/SVP title layers. You'll interact with the CFO and CEO regularly. ⠀ Apply via LinkedIn and we'll reach out to schedule a conversation. Confidential search; your application is fully private. ⠀ 𝗣𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗧𝗮𝗹𝗲𝗻𝘁 | 𝗛𝗶𝗿𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗥𝗲𝗶𝗺𝗮𝗴𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱
