Senior Director, Learning Design and Delivery – Education Equity UWNYC’s education work follows a place-based model—partnering directly with neighborhoods, schools, and families to design solutions informed by local knowledge, community priorities, and the lived experiences of students. This role leads the implementation and coordination of programs that are responsive to the strengths and needs of each community. Position Overview: Reporting to the Associate Vice President, Education Equity, the Senior Director, Learning Design and Delivery will lead the strategy, design, and implementation of United Way of New York City’s (UWNYC) learning and capacity-building initiatives focused on advancing education equity. The Director will oversee the development and delivery of high-quality learning experiences for educators, community-based organizations (CBOs), and partner institutions, ensuring all program components are executed on time, on budget, and aligned with UWNYC’s education equity goals. Primary Responsibilities Learning Program Design and Implementation • Lead design, implementation, and evaluation of UWNYC’s learning and capacity-building framework for CBOs, schools, and education partners., • Conduct needs assessments to determine training priorities and design responsive learning pathways, curricula, and resources that strengthen instructional practice, data literacy, and organizational leadership capacity., • Create and deliver trainings, workshops, and digital learning experiences that promote culturally responsive and equitable practices., • Serve as primary liaison with education partners, ensuring alignment on goals, timelines, and deliverables., • Build and maintain trust-based relationships with schools, CBOs, funders, and community stakeholders., • Represent UWNYC in meetings and presentations, sharing progress and impact updates., • Collaborate with internal teams to manage contracts, compliance, and grant requirements., • Maintain robust project planning and tracking systems to ensure all aspects of learning program design, delivery, and evaluation are well-documented and transparent., • Demonstrate strong organization, time management, and problem-solving skills to anticipate needs, manage risks, and deliver results., • Manage direct reports with a focus on clear expectations, accountability, professional growth, and alignment with UWNYC’s values of equity, collaboration, and service., • Foster a team culture of innovation, excellence, and inclusion, modeling continuous learning and reflection., • Bachelor’s degree in education, instructional design, public administration, social sciences with a minimum of 6 years of experience or a related field or Master’s degree in learning design, instructional delivery, adult learning, or education program management with a minimum of 4 years work experience., • Deep understanding of education equity, culturally responsive pedagogy, and community-based education initiatives in New York City and/or New York State., • Proven leadership and people management experience, including supervising staff to deliver complex learning or capacity-building projects., • Demonstrated success in curriculum design, professional learning facilitation, and/or instructional coaching for diverse stakeholders., • Strong ability to build and maintain partnerships across education systems, CBOs, and government agencies., • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with experience developing and presenting materials for educators, leaders, and community partners., • Strong project management and organizational skills; ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment., • Comfort with data analysis and learning evaluation to inform strategy and continuous improvement., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, and virtual learning tools (e.g., Zoom, Canvas, Miro)., • Willingness to travel regularly across NYC’s five boroughs., • Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred., • Project and Program Management, • Network Oriented, • Effective & Engaging Communication, • Strategic Relationship Building & Collaboration, • Strong analytical and data skills Salary Range: • Job Title Salary Range: Director salary range, • The final determination of salary, within this range, will depend on the candidate’s education, skills and experience required for the position.
