BOLD Summers is seeking a motivated individual to serve as Residential Director, a position that requires living on campus with staff and students and is responsible for the residential life component of the Engineering Summer Academy at Penn. Staff and students live in the dorms on the University of Pennsylvania's campus in Philadelphia. The Residential Director serves as the head administrator, overseeing the overall day-to-day logistics of the ESAP Program. The Residential Director will ensure that policies and protocols are implemented and followed by all students and staff, handle emergencies and address issues on site, and communicate with students and parents/guardians as needed. The Residential Director must collaborate with the site administrative team to facilitate orientation(s) and will develop and support a strong, positive team culture amongst staff and students. The BOLD Summers team delivers orientation, training, and equipping. Staff are required to stay for the duration of the program and will depart on the afternoon of August 1., • The residential director will have two half days off per week (with the Site Director’s approval). Additionally, the residential director will have allocated time slots for time off during each day, • Age Requirements: Minimum age is twenty-one (21) years old., • Education: Bachelor’s degree in progress or completed. A degree in education (or a related field) is preferred., • Leadership Background:, • 2-4 years' leadership and staff supervision experience preferred, • Performance management experience is preferred, • Experience: Prior experience working with teenagers and college-aged students; examples include but are not limited to teaching, coaching, tutoring, summer camp counselor, club executive member, and residence life position, • Safety & Supervision: Experience with after-hours crisis response; understanding of university safety protocols; supervision of 10-15 residential counselors, • Communication: Outstanding communication skills, • Required Training: Complete all training, background screenings, and other pre-employment credentials required by BOLD Summers and the state of Pennsylvania. Besides meeting new friends and having fun together, the Residential Director works hard, too, with their primary functions being: • Health and Safety:, • Oversee full management of the comprehensive residential program, including supervising and caring for all students during the program., • Act as the first responder for program concerns for the full duration of the program (24/7), • Oversee behavior and group management, safety, and security throughout the program, • Inform the BOLD Summer's full-time director and on-site Site Director of any health and safety or behavioral concerns, • Familiarize yourself with private student data, including health information and personal wellness concerns, • Liaison with BOLD Summer's medical team for the care of students and staff. Submit all follow-up reports within 24 hours, • Provide a fun and safe environment for program participants, • Review and actively participate in off-campus protocols, itineraries, and trips, • Communicate with parents regarding medical concerns, behavioral concerns, or requests to leave the program, • Dive into the Experience!, • Oversee the planning of fun, age-appropriate evening and weekend activities for teens, • Actively participate in all activities and trips, • Manage residential activities/trip budgets with the full-time BOLD Director. Complete all budget reconciliation processes by the designated deadline, • In collaboration with the full-time BOLD Director, manage the site inventory and order necessary supplies, • Respond to all program communications via email, phone, text, or in-person, • Academic Programming & Logistics: Assist the Academic Program Director in successfully implementing the program academically, • Familiarize yourself with the academic calendar, • Assign residential staff to assist with off-site trips, • Designate residential staff to be assigned throughout the academic buildings to assist students with directions, • Liaison with the Academic Director for student absence, • Training and Supervision:, • Work effectively with the BOLD Summers full-time director and other site leadership., • In collaboration with the BOLD Summer's full-time director and other site leadership, plan, coordinate, and lead orientation sessions for residential counselors after students arrive on-site, • Directly supervise ~10 staff members, which may include Residential Counselors, Multi-Media Interns, or Administrative Specialists, • Conduct daily check-ins with staff members, • Conduct daily staff meetings, • Attend daily check-ins with BOLD Summers' full-time director, • Conduct evaluations of all supervised staff members at the end of the program, • Be the Ultimate Role Model: Serve as a positive and encouraging role model for the students and peers., • Demonstrate BOLD Summers Core Values & Code daily, from “Gratitude” to “Bring It” daily., • Model the BOLD Summers Virtues of Character (Gratitude, Respect, Trustworthiness, Effort, Kindness, Positivity, Resilience, and Community) in camp daily., • Adhere to all company policies., • Photography & Video, including editing & cataloging:, • Ensure staff are taking and uploading a minimum of 10 photos per staff member per day, • Encourage staff to capture “MayJoy” moments throughout the day, • Liaison with ESF/BOLD Summers Marketing team for photo and video needs, • Flexibility is Important: Throughout the program, various logistical responsibilities are assigned to ensure the smooth operation of the program., • Valid driver’s license, • Commitment to the growth and development of youth and staff, • Demonstrate excellent judgment; identify problems and work quickly to find solutions, • Attendance and punctuality, • Push/pull, lift, and carry a minimum of thirty-five (35) pounds on campus.
