Job Description Johnson Service Group is seeking a Cable Assembler II for swing shift for a contract role with our premier client specializing in the development and manufacturing of vital components for medical markets. Swing Shift: Monday thru Thurs -1:10-pm to 11:50 pm 8 hours regular pay and the remaining hours each day at overtime rate Responsibilities This is the second level position in the Cable Assembly series responsible for assembly of cables, harness assemblies, electronic and electro-mechanical assemblies with significant wiring and cable content. This role will work on more complex projects and require additional skills. Position Requirements • Assembles cables, cable harnesses, and electronic/electro-mechanical assemblies under limited, • supervision., • Provides technical assistance to less skilled assemblers, • Assigns work to be performed for Cable Assembler 1., • Checks part count and any special packaging or handling requirements., • Sets up parts in work area, selects tools required to complete the operation, performs most types of testing (e.g. “pull test”, “cirrus test”, etc) and submits first piece for QA approval., • Saves first part as sample to use as a reference and inspects parts frequently to assure meeting, • quality requirements., • Notifies the lead if discrepancy from a previous operation is determined., • Assure proper handling and stacking of parts., • Determines when and if a process is complete and assures accurate count., • Cleans work area., • Adds special tooling or templates to department’s tooling lists and notifies the inspector or lead to update work order., • May other product testing including hi-pot, continuity, and specialized electrical and safety, • testing under limited supervision. Financial Responsibilities Provides recommendations to the lead for cost effective enhancements to the production process. This position has no direct budgetary responsibility. Interactions Interacts with other assemblers as a team and with Assembly Manager, Materials Department, and Quality Department as they relate to production issues. Supervision Receives direction from the Assembly Lead and/or Assembly Manager on complex cable assembly processes. Works with little direction on most projects. May instruct Cable Assembler 1 when required. Job Requirements • solder, crimp, and strip wires, • operate automated crimping and stripping equipment, • perform basic arithmetic problems, read blueprints, and schematics, • understand moderately complex written and verbal instructions, • work effectively with minimal supervision, • Physical Requirements: Most assigned tasks for this position may involve “Light work”, however some may involve “Medium Work” as defined below., • Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects. Medium work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects., • Candidates may be tested for skill level of soldering and/or basic hand tools, use of crimpers and the stripping of wire.
