Job Description Job Title: Clinical Manager Reports To: Associate Executive Director FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Department: Nursing Compensation: $27–$32 per hour, commensurate with experience Schedule: Sunday – Thursday, 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m., or as otherwise determined between the employee and supervisor. Summary The Clinical Manager plays a key leadership role in supporting the Director of Nursing and the broader clinical team in creating seamless, compassionate, and high-quality care experiences for residents. Located in the heart of Denver’s vibrant Berkeley neighborhood, The Argyle Assisted Living Community has been serving older adults for over 150 years under the guiding spirit of the Ladies Relief Society of Denver. As we continue this legacy, the Clinical Manager will help uphold our core belief: there is nobility in service. The Clinical Manager provides executive-level support to the Director of Resident Care and the LPN. This role helps cultivate smooth daily operations by coordinating the clinical calendar, QMAP staffing schedules, care conferences, in-service agendas, and presentations required by the clinical team. The Clinical Manager also assists with administering medications and treatments to residents in accordance with physician orders. This position ensures accurate and timely medication administration and documentation in compliance with regulatory requirements, facility policies, and standards of care. The Clinical Manager performs day-to-day functions assisting residents and supporting clinical operations as outlined below. Duties and Responsibilities Duties include, but are not limited to, the following: * Perform specific tasks in accordance with daily work assignments. * Complete daily, weekly, and monthly schedules in accordance with established policies and procedures. * Reconcile all cycle medications. * Create, maintain, and manage resident charts. * Assist in coordinating resident health matters by communicating effectively with primary care providers and other healthcare partners including PT, OT, ST, and home health providers. * Assist with orientation and training of clinical department staff members. * Maintain cleanliness and organization of the medication room, including medical carts, audit bookkeeping, filing, back-stock control, and coordination with medical disposal services. * Order, store, and assist with medications according to community policies, procedures, and current physician orders. * Accurately report medication refusals to the LPN and physician as directed. * Maintain security of all medications and ensure controlled substances are properly secured and counted between each shift according to policy and procedure. * Demonstrate knowledge of infection control and universal precautions. * Manage supply inventory and ordering (e.g., oxygen, tubing, dietary supplements, OTC medications, medication cups, gloves, PPE, etc.). * Coordinate and follow up on resident care after hospitalization, dispatch health visits, outside care, and transfers in collaboration with the Director of Nursing. * Assist InnovAge and other healthcare nurses with coordination of residential care, including appointments and transportation arrangements. * Assist with referrals to community agencies to meet residents’ social and emotional needs. * Demonstrate a passion for caring through interactions with coworkers, residents, families, and visitors. * Oversee ADLs with QMAPs to ensure residents are receiving the appropriate level of care. * Ensure timely and accurate documentation. * Enter physician orders into PCC in the absence of the LPN for review and confirmation prior to adding them to the EMAR. * Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor, LPN, or Director. * Attend, participate in, and contribute to departmental meetings, in-services, and staff meetings addressing resident, departmental, and community needs. * Maintain and protect the confidentiality and privacy of resident information in accordance with HIPAA regulations and support resident rights. * Maintain resident incident reports within PCC and ensure completion and follow-up with the LPN according to policy. * Ensure adequate staffing on shift by managing call-offs and absences according to community policies and procedures. * Assist QMAPs with ordering medications and following up with physicians and pharmacies to ensure timely delivery. * Provide education to Medication Aides, QMAPs, and L1MAs based on audit findings. * Assist in recruiting, screening, and selecting compassionate staff committed to caring for the elderly and disabled. * Set up medications and administer them to residents following established policies and procedures. * Perform narcotic counts at the beginning and end of each shift. * Contact resident families when medications need to be brought in, if applicable. * Remove expired or discontinued medications and prepare them for proper destruction. * Administer treatments, take vital signs, and weigh residents as needed. * Document medical changes and physician orders on the MAR. * Ensure lab work, faxes, physician orders, and medication orders are completed and filed according to community policies and procedures. * Notify the LPN, physicians, and families of any changes in condition, incidents, or medication updates as needed. * Communicate with residents, families, visitors, and staff in a professional and positive manner. * Provide excellent customer service by maintaining open communication, answering phones promptly and professionally, and ensuring the needs of residents, families, physicians, and staff are met. * Demonstrate a servant heart and attitude by upholding The Argyle Senior Living mission. Education and Experience High school diploma or equivalent preferred. Certification in medication administration and CPR/First Aid required according to state regulations. Language Ability Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence and effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations with residents, families, and staff. Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common-sense understanding to carry out detailed but straightforward written or oral instructions and resolve problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.
