NON-CDL DRIVER 416537 BID/JOB ANNOUNCEMENT NON-CDL DRIVER Chicago Department of Aviation CDA- Vehicle Operations Number of Positions: 2 Salary: $35.57 Hour (Additional vacancies possible pending budget approval) These positions are open to the general public and to all current city employees covered under the terms of the City's collective bargaining agreement with the Teamsters Local 700 BID INSTRUCTIONS: Apply on the bid site: ___ AND 1. Under supervision, a vehicle drives to transport personnel, equipment, and supplies to various work sites and locations throughout the city, and performs related duties as required ESSENTIAL DUTIES: • Inspect interior and exterior of vehicle for proper working conditions, including checking gauges, fuel levels, air pressure, and fluid levels at the beginning of the workday to ensure safe operation/driving of vehicle and fill fuel tank, as required, • Drives vehicles (e.g., sedan, van, sport utility vehicle, pickup truck) to transport departmental personnel to and from job sites, • Picks-up, sorts, and delivers items (e.g., mail, packages, supplies, equipment, payroll checks) to various locations and sites throughout the city, • Loads and unloads mail, equipment, and supplies into and out of the vehicle, • Follows safety regulations and state laws governing vehicle operation and ensures that passengers follow safety regulations, • Responsible for picking up and dropping off vehicles at the designated City garage or parking lot, • Drives vehicle for maintenance and repair service to assigned locations, • Maintains the cleanliness and security of vehicles, • Prepares daily and monthly log sheets, • Serves as an escort for vehicles in secure areas, as required NOTE: The list of essential duties is not intended to be inclusive; there may be other duties that are essential to particular positions within the class. RELATED DUTIES: Positions at the City's airports communicate with other drivers and control tower personnel while on the airfield. Positions at the City's airports may also be required to lead formations of multiple vehicles as part of snow and ice control operations, ensuring their correct movement and function, and to participate in training of other City drivers in snow and ice control vehicle operations.
