Job Description The Senior Accountant is a member of the Finance team and will be responsible for various accounting and sales review duties. This position is responsible for managing and overseeing the general ledger and financial reporting processes. This role involves preparing financial statements, ensuring compliance with accounting standards and providing accurate and timely financial information to support strategic decision-making. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Maintain certain general ledger accounts through the processing of transactions in the financial accounting system, including cash and payables transactions as well as general journal entries, • Purchasing/Vendor management support, • Perform balance sheet account reconciliations as part of the month-end and year-end close processes, • Review sales orders submitted by the Company’s carrier and enterprise sales team for completeness and accuracy, and interfacing with sales executives to resolve outstanding matters, • Assist in the Company’s collections effort, serving as a key member of a collections team who interface on a regular basis with many of the Company’s most significant customers to ensure timely payment of outstanding charges, • Assist accounts payable team in routing invoices for approval and entering invoices into the accounting system, as needed, • Serve as a key backup to many of the key duties of the finance/accounting department, • Assist the senior finance team in producing accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and other recurring reporting as requested, • Suggest and implement accounting processes, control procedures, and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy, • Interface with outside auditors for annual financial statement audit, as well as other vendors as required., • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance, or a related field, CPA or equivalent certification preferred., • Minimum of 5 years of accounting experience, with at least two (2) years in a senior or supervisory role., • Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, • ERP systems knowledge preferred not required., • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills., • Ability to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness, • FirstLight provides fiber-optic data, Internet, data center, cloud and voice services to enterprise and carrier customers throughout the Northeast connecting more than 13,000 locations in service with more than 125,000 locations serviceable by our more than 25,000-route mile network.
