Job Description Job Title: Low Voltage Electrician / Technician Job Description This role focuses on the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of low voltage electrical systems, with a primary emphasis on fire alarm and security systems in commercial and industrial environments. The technician will handle both service and installation work, ensuring systems operate safely, efficiently, and in compliance with applicable codes, while delivering professional and responsive service to customers. Responsibilities • Install, test, and maintain security systems and other low voltage systems, including access control, cameras, radios, and related equipment in commercial and industrial settings., • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings to plan and execute installations and repairs accurately., • Pull, terminate, and label low voltage wiring and cabling, ensuring neat, organized, and code-compliant work., • Program and configure fire alarm control panels and associated devices to meet project specifications and operational requirements., • Perform inspections of fire alarm and low voltage systems to verify compliance with local codes and standards., • Troubleshoot and repair system faults, malfunctions, and performance issues using appropriate electrical diagnostics and repair techniques., • Install conduit, cable, and related infrastructure to support low voltage and, when applicable, high voltage systems., • Use power tools and hand tools safely and effectively to complete installations, repairs, and construction-related tasks., • Collaborate with project managers, general contractors, and other trades on job sites to coordinate work and meet project timelines., • Maintain accurate records of work performed, materials used, and system configurations for each project or service call., • Provide clear, professional communication and excellent customer service to clients, including explaining work performed and system operation., • Work independently and as part of a team to complete both scheduled projects and service calls, including responding to issues that arise during ongoing construction or after installation., • Ensure personal tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and used in accordance with safety practices. Essential Skills • Minimum 5 years of experience in low voltage electrical work, preferably with a strong focus on fire alarm systems., • Working knowledge of applicable electrical and fire alarm codes and standards., • Proficiency in installing, maintaining, and repairing fire alarm, security, camera, and related low voltage systems., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings., • Hands-on experience with pulling, terminating, and labeling low voltage wiring and cabling., • Ability to program and configure fire alarm control panels and related devices., • Strong troubleshooting skills for diagnosing and repairing electrical and low voltage system issues., • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record., • Ability to provide and effectively use personal tools required for electrical and low voltage work., • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail in all aspects of installation and service., • Capability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment., • Physical ability to lift up to 50 pounds, work on ladders and lifts, and operate in confined spaces., • Comfort working in a variety of environmental conditions, including indoor and outdoor job sites. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Specific industry training and certifications in low voltage, fire alarm, or security systems that support higher pay potential., • Experience with high voltage work is accepted but not required., • Experience with conduit installation, cable routing, and construction-related electrical tasks., • Familiarity with security systems, camera systems, radios, and access control technologies., • Proficiency with power tools and hand tools commonly used in electrical and low voltage installations., • Experience performing both installation and repair work, including service calls and ongoing construction projects., • Openness to candidates with less than 5 years of experience who demonstrate a strong attitude, work ethic, and interview performance. Work Environment The role is primarily based in commercial and industrial settings, often within active construction environments where exposure to the elements is common. Technicians work on-site using a variety of electrical and low voltage tools, including power tools, ladders, lifts, and other equipment needed for installation and repair. The standard schedule is Monday through Friday, with most shifts starting around 7:00 a.m., although start times may vary depending on project requirements. Some service calls may begin at 8:00 a.m., while certain construction projects may start as early as 6:00 a.m. The work involves physical activity such as lifting, climbing, working in confined spaces, and moving between indoor and outdoor locations throughout the day Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Savannah, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $24.00 - $28.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
