Job Description Senior Network Engineer Full Time, Honolulu, HI (Pacific Region) Secret Clearance Position Overview We are seeking a Senior Network Engineer – Pacific Region to support the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in delivering secure, resilient, and high-performance network infrastructure across Military Treatment Facilities (MTFs) throughout the Pacific. This position directly supports the Department of Defense medical mission by ensuring highly complex LAN/WLAN/WAN infrastructure is engineered, secured, optimized, and maintained in compliance with DoD, DHA, and DHA Pacific Regional Command objectives. The Senior Network Engineer serves as the regional technical authority and primary point of contact for advanced network engineering matters across Pacific-supported DHA facilities. Key Responsibilities • Serve as the senior technical authority for LAN/WLAN/WAN network infrastructure across DHA medical facilities., • Identify, research, and resolve complex network and routing protocol issues at all layers of the OSI model., • Provide high-level installation, configuration, documentation, optimization, and troubleshooting of enterprise network systems., • Act as the primary point of contact for:, • Network configuration management, • Communications interconnection, • Addressing and multi-protocol routing, • Network management and optimization, • Utilize enterprise tools including:, • Orion SolarWinds, • ARMIS, • Ansible, • Monitor and optimize network performance using MIBs, MRTG, and related performance management methodologies., • Establish and configure network security systems including:, • Firewalls, • VPN appliances, • Intrusion Detection Systems (IDS), • Maintain and enhance LAN/WLAN/WAN boundary protections to prevent unauthorized access to MTF systems., • Develop, update, and enforce network standards in coordination with the Network Standards Team., • Provide written technical recommendations, policy updates, and network enhancement documentation., • Evaluate vendor products and recommend solutions aligned with DoD and DHA requirements., • Advise and consult with Government personnel and contractor teams on network design, deployment, and optimization., • Communicate status updates and technical findings to leadership, medical stakeholders, and technical teams., • Lead and mentor Network Specialists and engineering personnel as required. Education & Experience • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related technical field, • Completion of a certified Technical or Vocational School, • Active Secret Security Clearance, • Compliance with DoD Directive 8570.01, • IAM Level III certification (or equivalent per DoD 8570.01-M), • CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional) – Required, • Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) – Required, • Experience supporting DoD Health Care Information Systems, • Ability to perform duties of subordinate labor categories when required, including travel Technical Expertise Required Demonstrated mastery of enterprise networking protocols and standards, including but not limited to: Protocols & Services • TCP/IP, • HTTP / HTTPS, • SMTP, • SNMP, • DNS / DHCP, • RSTP / VRRP, • EIGRP / BGP / OSPF, • PPP / HDLC, • XDM, • 802.1d, 802.1q, 802.1w, • 802.3, 802.3u, 802.3z, • Ethernet / Fast Ethernet / Gigabit Ethernet, • FDDI / ATM, • Synchronous and asynchronous communications, • V.35 / RS-449, • Routed, switched, and shared LAN environments, • Microsoft Windows Server environments, • Active Directory, • UNIX, • OpenVMS, • Enterprise Cisco network infrastructure, • Optical Time Domain Reflectometer (OTDR), • Cable testers, • Network analyzers/sniffers, • Experience with Zero Trust Architectures and methodologies Communication Requirements • Strong verbal and written communication skills, • Ability to effectively engage:, • Government leadership, • Medical professionals, • Highly technical engineering teams, • Experience producing formal technical documentation, standards, and policy recommendations About Semper Valens Solutions: Semper Valens Solutions, Inc.
