Job Description Job Title: Mechanical Assembler – Manufacturing Facility (All Shifts) Payrate: $18.66/$19.66 an hour Job Description This role focuses on assembling a wide variety of mechanical units and support assemblies in a manufacturing environment using standard work instructions, hand and power tools, and detailed blueprints. You will work across multiple stations and assembly lines, support continuous improvement and safety initiatives, and ensure all products meet quality and specification requirements. Responsibilities • Assemble a wide variety of mechanical units and support assemblies at designated workstations using standard work instructions and engineering documentation., • Perform all functions in each station and feeder area within the assigned department, with the exception of welding., • Flex to other workstations and assembly lines as needed to support production schedules and workflow., • Identify, select, and correctly assemble all parts and subassemblies in the proper sequence for final unit assembly., • Read and interpret blueprints, bills of material, and data plates to ensure accurate assembly and proper component selection., • Assemble mechanical support assemblies to specifications, including interrelated subassemblies and option packages., • Apply proper sealing procedures for all products to meet quality and performance requirements., • Perform basic plumbing and electrical work on units according to specifications and instructions., • Install special accessories on units, understanding their function and correct installation methods., • Use a wide range of hand, power, and air tools, including electrical drills, grinders, air impact guns, and other assembly tools., • Measure and verify components using a tape measure and basic handheld measuring tools to ensure dimensional accuracy., • Work from ladders up to 20 feet in height when required for assembly or installation tasks., • Practice and sustain 5S methods to maintain an organized, clean, and efficient work area., • Use material ordering systems and follow established processes to ensure correct materials are available at the workstation., • Follow all relevant procedures, policies, and ISO instructions for the assigned area to ensure product quality and compliance., • Understand, promote, and help drive LEAN principles within the area to improve efficiency and reduce waste., • Support continuous improvement initiatives by helping develop and implement ideas to improve safety, quality, and productivity., • Help achieve departmental safety goals, including participating in near-miss reporting and supporting safety metrics., • Recognize normal workplace hazards and take appropriate precautions to protect yourself and co-workers., • Communicate professionally with internal teams, representatives, customers, and field service co-workers as needed., • Adapt to changing job schedules and production priorities while maintaining productivity and quality standards., • Maintain regular and reliable attendance and follow all workplace policies and procedures., • Participate in knock-down packing and crating processes as required for finished units., • Use computer systems, including ManMan and PPD, to access work instructions, materials, and related information as needed., • Collaborate effectively in a team environment, supporting co-workers and contributing to a positive work culture., • Perform other related duties as requested, directed, or assigned to support overall department and plant objectives. Essential Skills • General knowledge of mechanical assembly and construction of related industrial or HVAC equipment., • Ability to assemble mechanical units, support assemblies, and interrelated subassemblies using standard work instructions., • Proficiency using hand tools, power tools, and air tools, including drills, grinders, and impact guns., • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, bills of material, and data plates., • Ability to read and accurately use a tape measure and basic handheld measuring tools., • Basic mechanical aptitude and strong mechanical inclination in a manufacturing or construction environment., • Working command of the English language, both written and spoken, to follow instructions and communicate effectively., • Ability to perform basic plumbing and electrical work on units as required by the job., • Capability to work from ladders up to 20 feet in height safely and confidently., • Ability to understand and respond to job schedules and production priorities., • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others., • Ability to maintain regular attendance and meet workplace reliability expectations., • Comfort working in a loud, industrial manufacturing environment with required personal protective equipment., • Ability to practice and maintain 5S and housekeeping standards throughout the shift., • Comfort working with construction-type tasks or mechanical tasks in a manufacturing facility. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Construction or mechanical work within a manufacturing facility is highly beneficial., • Experience assembling industrial, HVAC, or related mechanical equipment is an advantage., • Familiarity with LEAN principles and continuous improvement practices., • Understanding of ISO-related procedures, policies, and instructions for quality management., • Working knowledge of computer systems, including experience with systems similar to ManMan and PPD., • Ability to understand and interpret bills of material and related documentation., • Strong initiative and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced production environment., • Personable, dependable, flexible, innovative, decisive, and loyal approach to work., • Good communication skills and the ability to work professionally with representatives, customers, and field service co-workers., • Flexibility to adapt quickly to change in tasks, schedules, and priorities. Work Environment This role is based in a manufacturing facility that operates multiple shifts, including first, second, and third shift assembly. Approximately 95% of the work takes place indoors in large bays, where doors are often open and you may be exposed to seasonal weather conditions, such as colder temperatures in winter and warmer temperatures in summer. The noise level is usually loud, and hearing protection is required. You can expect to work with a wide range of hand, power, and air tools, and to handle mechanical components, which means you will likely be dirty by the end of your shift despite regular housekeeping performed each shift. The environment emphasizes safety and proper use of personal protective equipment. You must provide your own steel-toe or composite-toe boots. The company supplies ear plugs, safety glasses or goggles (or side shields for approved prescription glasses), gloves, arm shields, and tools necessary for the job.
