Job DescriptionJob Title: Welder Job Description This role involves performing high‑quality welding operations using multiple welding processes in accordance with AWS standards and project specifications. You will interpret blueprints and welding procedures, set up and maintain welding equipment, and work with a variety of metals to fabricate, install, and repair components. The position requires close collaboration with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors to ensure accuracy, safety, and continuous improvement in all welding activities. Responsibilities • Perform welding operations using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, GTAW, and other qualified processes in accordance with AWS certification requirements., • Read and interpret blueprints, welding symbols, Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), and fabrication drawings to plan and execute work accurately., • Set up, operate, adjust, and maintain welding machines, power tools, hand tools, and fixtures required for each job., • Work with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, cast iron, and other metals as required for fabrication, installation, and repair tasks., • Inspect welds visually and with measuring tools (such as tape measures and gauges) to verify compliance with AWS standards and project specifications., • Perform repairs, rework, and adjustments on welds and assemblies to meet quality and dimensional requirements., • Use grinders, torches, cutting tools, and other shop equipment safely and effectively to prepare, weld, and finish materials., • Install and fabricate duct work and related HVAC components as needed, including general construction and duct installation tasks., • Follow all safety protocols, including proper use of PPE, adherence to hot‑work procedures, and compliance with OSHA guidelines., • Maintain accurate documentation of welds, materials used, and inspection results for quality and traceability., • Collaborate with supervisors, engineers, quality inspectors, and other team members to resolve issues and ensure project accuracy., • Support continuous improvement efforts in welding processes, fabrication methods, and overall shop operations., • Perform general labor tasks related to fabrication, construction, plumbing-related metal work, and installation activities as assigned.Essential Skills, • Current AWS Welder Certification (for example, D1.1 Structural Steel, D1.2 Aluminum, D1.3 Sheet Steel, or D1.6 Stainless Steel, or comparable AWS qualifications)., • Demonstrated experience in industrial, structural, or fabrication welding., • Ability to pass weld tests in accordance with AWS standards., • Strong understanding of welding safety practices and OSHA regulations., • Proficiency in reading and interpreting blueprints, welding symbols, WPS, and fabrication drawings., • Ability to lift heavy materials and safely handle large components., • Capability to work in various positions, including overhead, vertical, and in confined spaces., • Proficiency with grinders, torches, cutting tools, and measuring instruments such as tape measures and gauges., • Solid knowledge of SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GTAW welding processes.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Experience working with carbon steel, stainless steel, aluminum, sheet metal, and cast iron., • Background in HVAC-related metal work, including duct work fabrication and installation., • Experience with general construction, fabrication, and installation tasks., • Comfort using power tools and hand tools in a fabrication or construction environment., • Ability to perform basic plumbing-related metal fabrication where required., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high‑quality welds and assemblies., • Effective communication skills for collaborating with supervisors, engineers, and quality inspectors., • Willingness to participate in continuous improvement activities and adopt new welding techniques or procedures.Why Work Here? The environment is hands‑on and production-oriented, with a focus on accurate fabrication, duct work and sheet metal installation, and general construction-related tasks. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Jeffersonville, IN. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $30.00 - $36.00/hr.
