Job DescriptionRural Health Paraprofessional Workforce Coordinator Be part of a transformative effort to improve the health and well-being of rural communities across Indiana. Our client is leading Indiana’s 5-year Rural Health Transformation Program, including the Make Rural Indiana Healthy Again Regional Grants, a historic $600M investment to strengthen healthcare access, prevention, and system resilience across 64 fully rural and nine partially rural counties. This initiative brings together state leadership, healthcare providers, and community organizations to design and implement solutions that reflect local needs while advancing a shared, statewide vision for better health outcomes. This role leads the coordination and advancement of Indiana’s rural healthcare workforce strategy, expanding critical frontline roles that directly impact community health. About the Role The Rural Health Paraprofessional Workforce Coordinator plays a central role in advancing Indiana’s strategy to strengthen and expand the rural healthcare workforce. This position focuses on building and supporting paraprofessional roles such as Community Health Workers, care coordinators, and peer support specialists, which are essential to improving access, care coordination, and outcomes in rural communities. Working within a complex statewide governance structure, this role collaborates closely with IDOH leadership, workforce and regional grant teams, healthcare providers, training organizations, and community partners. The Workforce Coordinator ensures that workforce initiatives are aligned with CMS requirements, grounded in data, and responsive to the evolving needs of rural communities. This is a highly collaborative, field-connected role that blends program implementation, stakeholder engagement, grant oversight, and performance tracking. The position serves as a key operational link across partners, helping translate statewide strategy into consistent, on-the-ground impact. What You’ll DoWorkforce Strategy & Pipeline Development Drive the growth and sustainability of Indiana’s rural paraprofessional workforce. • Lead implementation of statewide workforce strategies for paraprofessional roles, including Community Health Workers and similar positions, • Coordinate recruitment, training, credentialing, and placement activities with employers and training partners, • Support development of career pathways, competency frameworks, and statewide standards, • Identify workforce gaps, barriers, and opportunities using data and stakeholder input, • Support administration of workforce-related grants, contracts, and subawards, • Monitor compliance with state and federal requirements, including CMS guidelines, • Track budgets, expenditures, milestones, and performance indicators, • Collaborate with technical assistance providers to align workforce strategies and implementation, • Participate in statewide meetings, workgroups, and training sessions, • Coordinate workforce planning and strategic alignment with state and CMS priorities, • Coordinate statewide data collection on recruitment, training, deployment, and retention, • Ensure timely and accurate reporting aligned with state and federal requirements, • Support partners in understanding reporting expectations, metrics, and documentation standards, • Serve as a liaison between IDOH and healthcare providers, community organizations, and training institutions, • Engage hospitals, FQHCs, EMS, behavioral health providers, schools, and community-based organizations, • Ensure workforce strategies reflect the needs and priorities of rural communities, • Help partners interpret program requirements, workforce guidance, and expectations, • Track statewide progress and identify barriers to implementation, • Support problem-solving efforts to maintain momentum and outcomes, • Contribute to development of new workforce models, pilots, and innovative approachesWhat You BringSkillRequired / DesiredYears of ExperienceBachelor’s degree in public health, health administration, public policy, workforce development, education, business administration, or related fieldRequiredExperience in workforce development, grant management, project management, program administration, or related workRequired5 yearsExperience working with healthcare organizations, rural communities, training providers, or public health systemsRequiredKnowledge of workforce development strategies, credentialing pathways, and training program implementationRequiredKnowledge of compliance, budgeting, and reporting requirements for state or federal grantsRequiredAbility to manage multiple projects simultaneously with strong attention to detailRequiredStrong communication, facilitation, and relationship-building skillsRequiredExperience with CMS-funded programs, federal grants administration, or large-scale workforce initiativesHighly DesiredFamiliarity with Indiana’s rural health landscape, including hospitals, FQHCs, EMS, behavioral health providers, and community organizationsHighly DesiredExperience collaborating with statewide associations, training institutions, or multi-stakeholder coalitionsHighly DesiredKnowledge of rural health delivery, care coordination, Community Health Worker models, or health system transformationHighly DesiredWork Environment & Travel, • Hybrid role based in Indianapolis, Indiana, • 3 days onsite at the IDOH office in downtown Indianapolis and 2 days remote, • Standard schedule of 37.5 hours per week, • Participation in regular statewide meetings, trainings, and check-ins required, • Travel may be required across the state, including in varied weather conditions, • Ability to lift up to 40 lbs may be required
